Default Is there a fee for using Sprint Service Books / Apps

I am a new Sprint customer and have Everything Data family plan on the Blackberry Bold 9930 (the keyboard is outstanding on this phone). There are a handful of preloaded applications (service books) on the phone and I wanted to know if there is a fee/charge for using it or viewing its content (such as TV/Movies with $). Here is the list:

Sprint Radio
NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile
Sprint TV & Movies
Sprint Football Live
Sprint Music Plus
Sprint Zone
TeleNav GPS Navigator
Vlingo
Self Service
Pocket Express

I asked different Sprint CS reps and got different answers. Anyone know the answer?

Thanks

I would imagine that any of the Sprint named apps there will be a charge to use. The icons that are showing on your phone are actually shortcuts, not the full application. Once you click on the icon, you will need to download the application.

Did you check on the Sprint site to see if the applications listed are pay apps?

I looked at the apps on the Sprint website. Some did provide information whether there is a charge or not and other apps didn't mention a thing.

The CS I spoke to mentioned that every app (the list I provided) is no charge under my Everything Data plan even viewing the content inside the app (such as movies with $). However, when looking at Sprint's site, it does mention there is a fee for premium channels. I guess I have to try one of the $ videos to see if I get charged.

The Everything Data plan also includes GPS Navigation. Here is the description from Sprint website:

Your phone will know where you are - even if you don't. Get driving directions, detailed maps, traffic alerts (on select phones) and one-click rerouting. GPS reliability varies by environment.
What you can do with it

Listen to voice-guided, turn-by-turn driving directions
Explore more than 10 million searchable points of interest
Find hotels, ATMs, phone numbers and more
Fast
Get street-level directions and maps for finding things on foot

However, when I installed the TeleNav app, it prompted me to use the "free mode" or premium version. I don't know what the differences are so click the free one. It appears to work; I haven't seen a charge on my account (yet). But there is still a button / menu option to upgrade. I don't know why and Sprint CS have been no help so far. I guess I just got to keep trying until I find someone knowledgeable about this.

I'm on Simply Everything. I never got charged for navigation -- that's included -- but I haven't tried any of the other extras. I can't imagine there would be any charges for anything on Simply Everyting (well, I do pay extra for internatioinal calls) at least without it specifying before you use, watch, etc. Maybe it's like on demand television and tells you when something is free or fee?

NASCAR will probably make you subscribe to a monthly plan to be able to access it. I have that option on my BB for the NHL app I'm using. I can have the free version and keep up to date on scores and stuff but if I want to listen to or watch games, it's a monthly fee.

I used TeleNav all the time and never got charged when I had Sprint. Pocket express is free. I've never used any of the football or the other stuff.

Most of the apps you listed are free with sprint. Some like the TV have free content and paid content if you click on a paid content it will tell you that it is a subscription service.

I don't use the music service but as I understand it you have to pay or subscribe for music.

Do not purchase apps from Sprint (actually the handmark store) you will end up paying far more for the app than thru BB App world or Mobihand. in those stores you pay one price and that is it. Sprint thru Handmark sells a lot of apps on a month reoccurring fee. (Usually 2.99 or 3.99 a month.)

For instance, I use Mycast Weather, thru Sprint it is 3.99 a month every month from BB App world it is a one time 14.99 charge.

The only sad part about this question is that your own CS reps from Spring cannot give you a definitive answer on what you will pay for and what you won't. I would ask to speak to someone in CS(even a Manager) that can tell you what you want to know.

Tele Nav would IMO would be a pay app for sure if you upgrade as the difference between the free and premium version is more than likely features blocked out in the freebir version you are using now.

Chack with Spring CS again and try what I mentioned to get the right answers and good luck wit hyour new phone. I have the 9930 on VZW and love the keyblard as well upgrading from a Tour 9630.

Moved to the Sprint Forum. The reps there should be able to help.

All the services mentioned are included in your plan.

Sprint radio and sprint tv have premium channels, you will get a notice telling you there is a fee for using some channels before using to them.

Telenav is free and unlimited with your plan.

Sprint football is more audio and free.

Music plus requires you to purchase music, and but will also help with existing music.

Vlingo free.

Self service is obviously free.

Pocketnow is an app store

Thanks for the reply.

I am not sure why I get different answers from different CS. Your answers fall in line to what I believe to be correct. Most of the Sprint stuff I won't use; for now, I am going to go with TeleNav.

All Pre-Loaded apps are free...ALL apps are free to D/L and use unless it specifically states that you have to pay. The apps do not charge your carrier or #. I use Sprint Nav, and just D/L'd the updated TeleNav app also, and they work great. I use the free version, as it has everything you need for Voice turn by turn Nav.
Regarding Sprint TV, you only pay for what items that specify that they cost. I have 4 lines on Everything Data Family plan Unlimited Data, and never have been charged more for using anything not specified. You have a pretty good plan there. Have fun!

Aren't there charges for upgrades to Telenav? I got a notice and didn't try it even though I have an everything plan because it warned me of a monthly charge before I downloaded it..
