Default Take this with a grain of salt, but...

I went to Best Buy tonight to finally buy a Bold 9650, but there were none to be found. When I asked the sales rep what was up, he said they are no longer selling it because it's outdated.

Since I had no desire to buy the Curve 3G (no flash!) or the Style, I asked him when they'd be getting new phones. He assured me Sprint was releasing new BlackBerry's in February. (Which I'm annoyed by since I wanted to avoid the $10 fee by upgrading this week.)

They are still selling it on the best buy website, but I thought it was interesting they've pulled it from the stores already.

Again, take it with a grain of salt since who knows how well informed Best Buy employees are, but thought I'd share. I'm still not sure if I believe him and may just order it online or go to a Sprint store so I don't get screwed.

Thanks for the tidbit, and I agree, take it for what it is. I wish we could get some more insider information like some of the other sister sites get. I always see photos from Best Buy showing upcoming devices. Seems there is only a couple sites that generate any buzz outside of CB, but usually is nothing more than confirmation of what we already knew.

I wouldnt read to much into it. I was in a best buy Saturday and they had them stocked and said it was still one of their best sellers. They may be getting closer to the end of their life but until a replacement is released nothing will be discontinued. Its a great device and I say go to another Best Buy and get one

I wouldn't believe it either. 9650 is a great phone imo - could be just that particular Best Buy isn't selling them anymore...
Definitely get one if you wanna upgrade and stay on Sprint, if a new BB comes out in Feb you can return the 9650 and take the $10 a month increase.

Well, I'm trying to avoid the $10 few also, but if it comes as the Troll on the Bridge to new BlackBerry Devices, I will gladly pay it. At this point, they have me completely on edge for a new BlackBerry. So I will wait.

Although, everyone here has made good points. I would use your 30 day period and see what they may come up with. If it tickles your Fancy, run with it.

I would never buy a device at Best Buy. I have a friend who went to buy at BB Style and they told him that the EVO was a better phone. He said he wanted a Blackberry, and the salesperson told him that they don't like Blackberry's. He got so pissed that he went to a Sprint store and bought his BB Style.

So, every time your friend has a bad experience you are going to swear off that business?

Best Buy almost always has cheaper phones than what they are at the Sprint stores. I've bought phones from them for the last 2 years with no problems.

Best buy hates blackberries because they can't make money off Of them because rim wot allow them to fix them. If you bring your berry into best buy and it needs to be fixed they will give you a brand new one in box. They dot make any money off the insurance the try to sell you. An evo or any other phone they can try to fix.

FYI - if you go to the best buy website, the bold under sprint is no longer an option. they only have the style and curve. so guess there is some truth to this. I assume the best buys will just keep them in stock until they're sold out and then maybe return them if they dont sell out.
