Default Sprint's reduced nationwide coverage

I was wondering if anyone had been affected by recent reductions in Sprint's 3G/voice coverage that resulted from Verizon's buyout of Alltel. There is a detailed thread in the Sprint.com forums regarding this, but to sum it up the roaming agreement between Sprint and Alltel that was in effect until 2016 is now defunct since Verizon was only made to honor the agreement for 4 years. On top of that Verizon had to divest assets in areas where they duplicated services with Alltel and those were purchased by at&t. If you check Sprint's nationwide coverage map you will notice the footprint has been dramatically reduced. This marks my 13th year as a loyal Sprint customer, but these recent developments have me concerned. I've always said I would stick with Sprint until the ship sank, so now I'm wondering if it has sprung a major leak. With the ATT/T-mo merger, Can Sprint keep up with it's competitors in the coverage game? Recently I have experienced some coverage issues in my home area and while traveling (can't say for sure if they are due to the VZ/Alltel deal). While traveling to see my daughters high school b-ball team play in Warner Robbins, GA I found myself without any coverage at all while other parents were talking it up on their phones. I have always bragged to others about Sprint's value and service, but I am now seriously considering jumping ship. I'm willing to pay a little more for a service that works consistently. By the way, I would rather use smoke signals that switch to at&t so my only option is Verizon lol. Any thoughts on this?

I've also noticed coverage issues here in Michigan. BUT i finally called retentions dept and they had a outage in my area and gave me a nice credit to. I've called Verizon and Att this past week to see what they had to offer. ATT- was abou 30 more a month and verizon was about 25 without any mobile to mobile. Sprint by far has the best plans and my service is actually better now since i called.

Thus far I've had no coverage issues to speak of as a result of this. I'm a commercial driver on the road extensively.

HP is using Sprint's network for a prepaid data plan. That huge hole in the middle looks so scary lol but who actually lives there..?

Oh my goodness I was having the same problem. I live in Duluth GA and I constantly called them until they decided to give me an air rave for my home, but it doesn't solve when I am out and about..It is so hard for me to get service now..My family lives in Alabama and they are having the same problems. Unfortunately, I will have to consider changing to another company that will offer better coverage.

I had really great coverage until about a month ago. I have called 3 times so far about this and nothing has changed. It is just getting worse. So I will be forced to switch carriers next month if it isn't any better. I definitely don't want to because Sprint saves me a lot of money over the only other company available here, VZW.

How is USCellular in your areas? They roam on vzw and sprint I believe and have been advertising nationwide coverage. In the midwest I've never had any trouble but I don't travel often so don't know about other areas.

They also seem to have well priced plans.

I just priced verizon and att the past 2 days and it's crazy expensive. Sprint-5 bb's unlimited 1500- 208 a month. Verizon would be 300 and att would run about 285.

Sprint needs to "caca" or get off the pot. Service really is going down the toilet. I've ben a loyal customer since 1998, but the service is getting terrible, in areas that once was good. Come on Google.

Yeah but it starts to change if you don't even get coverage in the first place... If you get coverage then the pricing is fine, if you can't even pick up reliable signal then even $100 a month is a rip off....

Exactly. I have missed calls and texts from my boss and lost more than the others would cost me because of it. Paying the $160 I am now is a waste because I can't do anything. So paying $300 for VZW will be worth it because I will actually get calls and texts.

Just from my experience the last 2 days Att would be my choice. They seem like they have better cs. They were willing to pay all 5 lines etf's,waive the activation fee and sell the torch for.01cent. Verizon didn't offer anything. All they wanted to do is talk android and didnt have anything to say about apple or bb. i almost made the jump to att but it comes down to price and i do get good service here with sprint. i didn't know telenav is additional 10 bucks a month. ATT was very professional and I can't say the same about verizon today.( horrible experience)

Well I've been noticing a difference to and called and found out they were doing some works on tours around here. Sprint ended up giving me a credit for the inconvenience and said it would be fixed by 5/30.

I have called 4 times now. Going to be 5 today. They just keep saying the towers are not working right and they will send someone to fix them. It has been almost 2 months now and they haven't fixed anything yet. I am still having problems. They have until next month and if it's not fixed I have to change to verizon. I don't want to but missing calls from my boss and that is not a good thing.
