Sprint's reduced nationwide coverage
I was wondering if anyone had been affected by recent reductions in Sprint's 3G/voice coverage that resulted from Verizon's buyout of Alltel. There is a detailed thread in the Sprint.com forums regarding this, but to sum it up the roaming agreement between Sprint and Alltel that was in effect until 2016 is now defunct since Verizon was only made to honor the agreement for 4 years. On top of that Verizon had to divest assets in areas where they duplicated services with Alltel and those were purchased by at&t. If you check Sprint's nationwide coverage map you will notice the footprint has been dramatically reduced. This marks my 13th year as a loyal Sprint customer, but these recent developments have me concerned. I've always said I would stick with Sprint until the ship sank, so now I'm wondering if it has sprung a major leak. With the ATT/T-mo merger, Can Sprint keep up with it's competitors in the coverage game? Recently I have experienced some coverage issues in my home area and while traveling (can't say for sure if they are due to the VZ/Alltel deal). While traveling to see my daughters high school b-ball team play in Warner Robbins, GA I found myself without any coverage at all while other parents were talking it up on their phones. I have always bragged to others about Sprint's value and service, but I am now seriously considering jumping ship. I'm willing to pay a little more for a service that works consistently. By the way, I would rather use smoke signals that switch to at&t so my only option is Verizon lol. Any thoughts on this?
