Default Sprint's Real Network Coverage

Has anyone found Sprint's network coverage on their site a little deceiving? At first glance, it looks like their network is massive, but when you zoom in, the majority of their coverage is along medium-big cities and major highways. Plus, roaming areas are filled-in with similar colors:

Sprint - Nationwide Coverage

On Virgin Mobile USA (a Sprint subsidiary), they show Sprint's "real" coverage, or without the roaming areas, and quite frankly, it shows a much more accurate representation of Sprint's network.

Cell Phone Coverage - Check Cell Phone Coverage | Virgin Mobile

While I love the excellent value and reliable service of Virgin Mobile, I do hope Sprint posts maps similar to the ones on Virgin Mobile to avoid confusion to potential customers.

guess it doesnt really matter for me since it has coverage where I live and work. shouldnt that be most important, rather than if it has coverage 10 states away in a little known town with a population of 10?

sprints service has dropped significantly since the vz alltel buyout. we had great nationwide coverage but when they bought alltel and then the fcc forced vz to sell the overlapping satellites and att bought them. i was hoping sprint would but they didnt. my coverage really hasnt changed here in south eastern ma but i feel it is going to changed for the worst and i may have to go to att. im not doing an early upgrade for the 9900 because i am waiting until june when my contract is up and see if sprint does anything different.

I'm with you on the southeastern MA & RI coverage. Haven't seen any degradation in quality.

well i live on the tiverton line but i work in attleboro and signal is so so there. i stream pandora and enjoy the unlimited data so i hope sprint keeps the signal the same. i dont even plan on upgrading my berry because if i upgrade my 3 lines then i will be on par with the same prices as att and in all honestly they do have alot better coverage than sprint nationwide.

I'll have to buy you breakfast one of these days. I'm in Attleboro all the time.

@eve6er69 I was on ATT and service was horrible. According to the ATT agent and their maps prior to signing up for their services, my area was covered very well. However, 30% of the time, my calls and data were dropped.

If you are going with ATT, tread with caution.

Thanks for the heads up. I know the major rules in cell carriers is not to trust the coverage mapa and not to trust the reps lol.
When and if I even do make the move it probably won't be until June-sept and I'll have to ask around to people that have AT&T and see what the local people say.
