Angry Sprint Lied to Me About MMS (TWICE)

Well, I thought I would pass along this little tale of deception. I have been a Sprint customer for over 10 years with 4 phones and an air card on my account. I recently found it necessary to be able to take pictures and send them to a Verizon customer. I had an older BB without a camera so I went into a Sprint store and told them what I needed to do. I was told that Sprint BB couldn't send pictures as "text" messages but that there was a work around by e-mailing them. I then said I would shop around for another carrier and was told the problem was inherent with BB with all carriers. Stupid me for believing them and I was not a Crackberry user until now.

I then called customer support and again was told the same thing and when I told them I was thinking about looking for another carrier they transferred me to "retention" and again I was told that the problem was with the design of the operating system of BB not the carrier. They again told me I could e-mail pictures and they gave me what I thought was a good deal so I upgraded to a Curve 8330. Well, I have had it now for several days and I have been trying to e-mail pictures to the verizon customer using (theirphone#@vzwpix.com) and this works if I send the picture from my laptop but if I send it from my Curve, I get a message back from the Verizon MMS System Administrator saying that there was a MMS WAP error and the picture is not received. So I went to a Verizon store and that was where I learned that Verizon customers have the ability to send MMS messages and one of their sales persons used his Curve to send a picture to my Curve. But I could not send to them and was told that this was a problem with Sprint's configuration of their BB. Also when I try to send pictures from my BB to other Sprint phones using (phone#@pm.sprint.com) it doesn't work either. So back I went to a Sprint store and was told by the manager at the store that there are problems with sending to some Sprint phones using the e-mail feature.

So I guess my bottom line questions are:
1) When is Sprint going to get their (&^%$%*) act together?
2) Does anyone else know a way to get a picture from my Sprint Curve to a Verizon phone or to other Sprint phones for that matter?

Thanks.....

Since you just got the Curve from Sprint. I would take it back and find a carrier in your area that can support your needs.

Mine will work with the workaround. I have read that you have to delete your sigline "sent from my blackberry at sprintspeed......." deal, in order for it to work. I deleted mine within 5 minutes of having it so I don't know if that is a fact. You may try that and see if it helps.

from your computer, go to sprint.blackberry.com log into your acct, on your email address, click edit and remove the sig. BTW if you have more than one address, you have to remove each individually. Good luck!

Hey there,

I have sprint to and its a pain on how they don't have mms but other carriers do. This is what I do and works just fine just an extra step or two. I set up a contact to my picture mail account which is phone#@pm.sprint.com. Then i take a picture(s) email them to my picture mail account, a few seconds later i get a text message that i have new picture mail so I go there and just forward it to the persons phone number. A pain but when you get the hang of it its really not that bad or long of a procedure.

Hope this help.

Goodness.. That is a lot is trouble and I would be mad. I'd probably demand they let me out of contract since they did not fulfill their part and lied. I have tmobile and sending MMS is as simple as sending a text message.

I have the same problem. I too thoght the pm thing was no big deal. Even w/ all the work arounds I still can't pm or forward text to my verizon friends. I can to my Sprint friends though. I have been with sprint for 10 yrs as well and this is the first time I' ve considered leaving as well. Searh through these postd on Sprint and MMS and you will get a full understanding of the problem.

The Problem with Texting/mms'ing is on Verizon side, everyone is having problem texting verizon phones right now.

I love how people automatically assume its Sprint fault somehow.....

And my goodness, is there alot of 13yr olds members or something, all this whining about MMS....

SPRINT WILL HAVE MMS ENABLED WITH 4.5.GIVE IT A REST.

Have patients for god sakes....I swear Verizon locks out GPS and people are perfectly fine with that (even tho they pay considerably more) Sprint's missing MMS (something not critical to the functioning of the phone) and you folks are ready to crucify Sprint for it...

Personally, I could care less if they open MMS or not. If I ever have the need to take a pic and send it, I email it because I only do it at work and the people that need to see are at desktops anyway. People want what they want though and it is important to some. I don't fault them for complaining about it.

My only complaint for not having it is that I am paying for a "simply everything" plan, when I don't truly have simply everything. I can use the phone as a modem, which a lot can't and that is a fair trade off in my opinion.

Man this sounds familiar. I too was a Sprint customer for over 10 yrs and found out as you did they bs'd me about mms. I jumped ship and went with VZW and never looked back. Not just over this issue but to save time and aggravation dealing with their God-awful customer service over monthly billing errors and other screw ups. I think VZW is far more competent and knowledgeable so far than Sprint. My suggestion is ditch them and get with a carrier that serves your needs.

Excuse me? You must not look at many threads. There are TONS of people griping about GPS being locked. Personally I don't want/need it, but I read/here the complaints. All you have to do is read.

OP do you have names of the workers that lied? I would be calling and getting out of contract ASAP without the etf.

Verizon is only a little bit more in cost.. maybe 10$.. it means dont eat 2 value meals at mcdonalds and thats your extra money for the month. I would rather pay more money for better service then to deal with other companies. I have had sprint and my cell bill always seemed to go up every month. And the customer service is horrible.

I dont know about you but this is what i did.. I have had the pearl since nov of last year and i have been putting up with sprint and the mem issue and the lack of no pick mail. So i called in the other day and said im calling it quits with sprint and going to t-mobile where i know the bbs over there can do mms. Sprint told me that they would give me a brand new rant for nothing....!!! so i took it but now im missing my bb so i have been switching back and forth and i think im going to send the rant back ride out my contract and just go to t-mobile. Im sick of sprint telling me that there will be software and its coming and they give me a date and the date comes and gos and still nothing.. Im just done if they dont do something soon im out and bye sprint...
