Pissed Phil M | Two different things (unlimited data and hotspot)... at least to them it is.
I feel your pain, but that has been their business plan for a while. You can use that data on your device; tethering will cost you.

Like previous posters said hot spot and unl data are 2 different things. Hotspot isn't going to be free or cable providers would be upset.
Tether has a 5gb cap I believe but wireless data on your phone is still unlimited.

Yeah, Sprint is no longer unlimited on anything but phones, and expect smart phones to hit the chopping block soon.
Sprint changed my Mom's wireless plan on her laptop (she's 68 BTW), from Unlimited 4G/5GB of 3G, to a 5GB 4G/3G capped account, and she, well, I really don't know what happened to her notification of the contract change, but come on, it was the holidays.
Still, they make it almost impossible to switch between the WiMax and the WiFi, and Mom just left it in 4G all December, and ran up a $600 overage bill that they are being serious dorks about.
So, yeah, Sprint is probably history as far as this extended family is concerned, that's 8 family plans two data plans, and 4 pre-teens coming up to phone age real soon (scary I know)
I'ts a brutal economy and being the underdog doesn't get sympathy anymore, so just like Mom lost her new TV to Sprint, Sprint will lose 10+ years of customers to who knows what?, straight talk?
Peace.
Paul.

Reason: grammar spelling, typos, hubris, the usual.

Paul. | So it's Sprint's fault your mother couldn't be bothered to keep track of her usage or read her bill thoroughly (where they always notify of changes)? I don't see why Sprint is the bad guy because your mother was irresponsible.

i don't think she was irresponsible but more trusting that she was in a contract so they wouldn't change anything because thats what she signed up for. in my mind i feel sprint should have reached out a little more to warn customers, especially those that they knew would go over the 5gb cap they were about to put in place.
