Is there a way we confirm that these phones will be able to take advantage?

I'm hoping the right ships are in the right berrys. **** I want to try to take advantage of the rev-b on my 9650 but I know that won't happen. Lol

I don't see in the article anything regarding BBs.

Look at phonescoop and the processors used in the 9930/9850/9350

All have Rev B capable chips.

I looked on rims website and see the same thing. Have a different source?

All,

I come here to be educated and all of you never fail, so forgive the silliness of the next question. I carry the BB 9650 Bold. I've been very disappointed with my coverage with Sprint the past few months since the Alltel to Verizon cell tower debacle. How will this improve our data coverage? I get that it sounds like I'll have to upgrade phones, but at the end of the day...isn't this all the same cell towers? Meaning..if my services sucks currently, want it continue to "suck" because Sprint isn't adding more towers??

correct. it is the existing footprint that will see the rev-b upgrade. im sure sprint has to be working on upgrading their cell network, i just hope it is before june when i am due for an upgrade from this 9650.

i hope that deal with the company that is getting in trouble with gps companies is going to be in its beginning form so we can see what kind of coverage the new sprint will have to offer.

Sprint's own employees are denying this outright in the forums, so...

Take it with a grain of salt. Everybody else is holding out to go straight from EVDO Rev A to LTE....

i have a friend from sprint corporate that gave me info on this. he is not denying it but also says "if or when it happens" with the lightsquad deal in the works im sure they would like to just go from 3g to lte but if the new iphone can handle rev-b then it would be a massive selling point for sprint if the get the i5 a quarter before everyone else.

before all these articles dropped he told me about this plan of rev-b and he hasnt been wrong about any info i have recieved so i will continue to believe him.

Problem is it would only weigh in against VZ. GSM networks would already have HSPA+ anyhow (rollout started a long, long time ago).

So they would have some incentive over VZ, yet they still couldn't touch VZ customers locked into contracts and they would have no incentive (speed wise) over GSM...

That doesn't exactly seem huge for doing another entire rollout, and then having to do LTE anyways in 2012...

oct 7 has came and is just about gone as i type this. the only announcement sprint has made was it will convert its entire network to 4G LTE, as well as keep it 3G and make all there towers able to handle all their network technology.

Rev B would make zero sense at this point (or any time recently). It was never probable... They would have had to have started it years ago to be worth it...

I just wish that rumor way back in the day came true. The one about putting a 4G tower on top of every walmart.
