Default speed test, very slow

Hello,

I am in Long Island, NY sprint blackberry 9330 (curve 2). I am getting only 300kbps on speed tests (with full 5 bars, 1EXV)

I used to have an older phone (8830), I was able to get over 1mb.

What is the deal? Anyone else having this issue?

It is frustrating. I am getting playbook and I am not browsing web with those speeds.

Thanks!

What are you using to test the speeds?
You could call sprint to see if there is a tower down. I know me I got 199-225 speeds before I got my airave. Service inside my apt sucks.
I don't blame you for not liking those speeds. I wouldn't nither. Espcially since you got faster speeds on an older model.

These are my speeds. Should I talk to Sprint about it?

Give them a call but don't expect much info from level 1cs

When I called CS they were in total denial tower issue was present so convo got ugly. They ended up transferring me to 2nd level tech support were they gave the low down about tower work in my area with estimated completion date.
A week later speeds were better then ever before.

The test seems to totally break if you do a larger file test...

1mb test reports something stupid like 3053kbps

I ran the 2MB test and got 5594 kbps on my Tour. I'd say that between 400-800kbps sounds about right

On my blackberry I get different speeds with different browsers. I can definetly say that the native browser is miles slower than the opera browser.

That's because Opera Mini reports false speed reports. Opera mini renders webpages on a server then just pushes the page to the browser or sends input from the phone to the server page, so the rendering and reported speed is just the server speed, not the phone itself.
