Default SERO MMS & Internet SB's

Hi guys:

I've been trying to get both of these working together for ages, and finally have.

I've got a set of service books merged from forum posts all around that can finally get the two services working w/o BIS.

To load these on your phone, go to Options - > Advanced -> Service Book.

Hold <alt> and press "S" "B" "E" "B".
On a pearl, this means you press the "A?S" key twice.

You will get a message "Legacy SB mode enabled"

Send the service books using the BB Desktop manager.

Enjoy!

Worth noting, I find the internet works more reliably if you use the "hotspot browser" as your default.

does it matter what firmware we're using? i've got 4.3. 4.5 made my pearl really sluggish.

I'm not positive if the firmware version matters. I'm running 4.5 on mine.

If you have any useful service books currently that you care about, just make sure to back them up first. You can always restore them using the same method then.

Ok, I loaded the service books on firmware 4.3 just fine. Browser app shows up, and MMS messaging is now an option to send messages. MMS messages send fine.

However, the MMS message shows up as a weblink on the other phone. When receiving a MMS message, it also shows up as a weblink.
When using the browser, it says "negotiating", but then error's out with "A Failure has occurred during the negotiation of a secure connection with the WAP Gateway. Please contact your service provider".

I'm thinking to get full usability, I need 4.5, which sucks because it makes the pearl sluggish and takes away a few usability nice-eties.

Does everything work perfectly with MMS and browsing (OTA installs) on your phone, superm1?

Yeah this is how it's working for me too. I don't know if it's a side effect of it being a hack, or just the way sprint does MMS on BB.

You need to go into browser configuration and set the default browser to be "hotspot browser", not just "browser".

Use Maxmem to clean up some of the extra stuff in 4.5 you don't need. I really don't think it's sluggish (but maybe i'm just used to it nowadays)

Right now, close enough to perfect. I've got a variety of different service books that can provide the internet access. So if this one stops working, I can try to assemble a different one. In this merged one, these are 'nextel' internet service books.

I wouldn't expect them to, but I don't have BBM installed, so don't know for sure.

I just tried this with Blackberry Messenger, but no luck.

I've got MMS now, so that's a +1.

Thanks superm1!

Outstanding! Just got them loaded on my new Tour, and internet works (haven't tried mms yet). The hardest part was figuring out how to load via Desktop Manager.

That info, for any other noobs: www_bbsgame_mobi/viewthread.php?tid=203

really, how did you get it to work on the Tour? I have it loaded and the browser shows up, but I get no internet. I'm still on the legacy SERO plan.

I didn't do anything special. I just followed all the directions and then it worked.

Got the browser to work, and I'm able to send MMS, but I'm not able to receive MMS. Anyone else have this problem?
