Default Replacement phone question

My girlfriend needs a new phone since her old one died and she want's to get a blackberry. She doesn't receive a new upgrade until 4/2012 and Sprint wants well over $300 to replace her old phone with a blackberry. I have AT&T and when my brother's phone died, we bought another off of eBay and just popped his sim card in. Since Sprint doesn't have a sim card, is this still possible? Can she just get a blackberry off of eBay and have it activated to her account? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Sam

as far as I know, Sprint doesn't activate phones that aren't sold by them (such as a Verizon phone). Also, Sprint is CDMA and you need a CDMA phone to activate. Best bet is to call the and see if they activate a non-Sprint phone or a Sprint phone that wasn't bought on your account. then, you can look online and buy one...

Wow, never would have thought that you couldn't use another CDMA such as Verizon. Sprint really seems like a b!tch. I was hoping that she could buy a Sprint blackberry and just activate it on her account. I guess I'll have her call Sprint and see if they'll activate a phone that wasn't purchased on her account. Thanks for the help!

As long as it is a Sprint Blackberry, she should be able too. Just make sure that the ESN is clean.

That's exactly what I was hoping to hear. Figured I'd double check before I got dumped for having her spend money on a phone she can't use. Forgot about having a clean ESN, don't have to worry about that on AT&T. Thanks for the help!

Yep, if your on sprint, make sure that your buying a Sprint phone off Ebay, always look in the description of the phone to make sure the list the phone as having a clean esn, if it does you can just buy it and when it arrives call sprint and theyll activate it on your account
