Question about Activating New Phone

Can someone explain.... What is the correct order of switching from one BB to another? Do I activate with Sprint before using Device Manager to switch information or vice versa?
Also, do I switch memory cards before or after using the switch wizard?

Have sprint activate your new phone, then switch sd memory card into new phone then use BB desktop to transfer data from old phone to new phone. Remember, if you havent back up your old data first for safety
