On a 9650 you can go to options and mobile network options and select update prl from the menu.

hi i have a bb 8330m on boost and my prl is curently 60667 how do i update it :/
and will my prl have enything to do with me not getting the 1XEV i only get 1xev

update your prl by calling boost or sprint and telling them you want to update your prl and then they will put in a code on the computer and have you usually dial *2 and it will update automatically.

i have already called sprint and they told me that they do not do that my bb 8330m anymore (flag my account for the update) that i have to go to one of ther stores and use some machine :/
boost was completely unable to help me ;( (i kinda expected it )
ive tried everything to update my prl but nothing has worked

I used to have 8330m.

I battery Pulled for 30 seconds or more.

i dont think the option of a PRL update is available anymore with the 8330m. i used to have the same phone for a while it worked by calling it in but then Sprint had said no go on updates, something to do with software.

The PRL is the "Preferred Roaming List". This update tells the phone which towers to roam off of in case the add or remove roaming partners. If your phone says "1xev" that means you aren't connected to BIS and therefore, no data connection. The next time you see "1xev" go to mobile network options, then status and see if it says if you are connected to BIS or not. If you are in an area that generally has good Sprint service, it sounds like it might be an issue with the phone communicating with BIS. I had that happen to my Tour... It just randomly lost connection to BIS and I called Sprint and they re-sent the service book and that fixed it.
