Phone Lineup and Coverage

I've recently noticed, that Sprint is starting to get some decent phones. On the other hand, I've also noticed their coverage is going way south. I've been with Sprint for 10+ years, and have been satisfied. Now, when I go to the same areas I previously did, service is non-exsistant. Is it just me? I know they are selling off towers, but thought they were leasing them back.

They never sold towers.
We had an agreement with altel for mutual tower sharing that was supposed to run through 2015 but vz bought altel and the FCC told vz that thy couldn't have overlapping towers and had to sell all overlapping. So they did and AT&T bought them. Hence the drop in signal.

That's what I have been reading around on the forums and hearing on the podcasts.
