Default Free, so why not?

I have a Blackberry Curve 8530 for my primary phone (Sprint $69/Unlimited Plan). Now, a while back a friend gave to me his old iPhone 3G. I did not reactivate it, instead I installed Whistle, config'ed it w/ GoogleVoice, now I have unlimited voice and SMS while under a WAP, I found Meebo and that covers all of my chats. I have $0.00 invested in a device that I can email/chat/text/browse/stream.
My questions is: I am a student; I'm almost ALWAYS under a WAP...Is there a manner in which I can pull this same trick off with my Bold? I've heard rumors that once a BB is disconnected from it's cellular plan, it no longer can connect to a WAP.
Thanks for the inputs....
-Tom

The heart of a Blackberry is it's service books which are supplied by the wireless carrier, your Bold may work for a little while but eventually those service books will expire when they can't be renewed by the carrier.

Will it work? Perhaps, this was popular for Wifi BB's when they first came out data service was an option that you didn't have to subscribe to and people manually loaded service books.

Search for threads about BB's without a data plan would be your best bet.

Another issue is getting the app's installed without App world which you need full BB services to install most apps, without a data plan I doubt you can access it.
