Default Farewell Sprint...

Everyone:

I am bidding farewell to Sprint after 11 years. After two rate increases in the last 4 months, I have had enough. The latest plan to raise our rates $10 per month per line was the last straw as I currently have 5 phones on my account. And it's not a matter of if our rates will go up, it's a matter of when as a result of this change. Most people on the CB Forums do want to upgrade their devices in the future!
It used to be Sprint had the advantage when it came to rates and that is slowly eroding. I want to say thanks to everyone on the CB Forums and I wish you all the best.

So what provider are you switching to? We can all get frustrated with our providers, but wondering how different the deal is elsewhere.

If you are going to verizon then you will be paying even more for data. They are raising their prices also.

Good luck, but what will you do when the carrier you are going to decides to raise THEIR rates? Sprint may be raising their rates, but they are still the least expensive of the major US carriers.

When you add $50 to a 5 line family plan, it closes the gap between carriers a huge amount. I for one do not need unlimited everything that I have with Sprint, so I can compare family plans with AT&T's and Verizon's lower minute plans so there really isn't a gap and if there is its not much.

I support Blackberrys and keep tabs on currents rates as my company doesn't have a standard carrier but instead we allow the departments to decide what best suits them.

Sprint has the most affordable plans. Verizon comes in second for price and AT&T is the most expensive however they have better coverage in my area over all.

Were does 5 phones = $50 increase? unless you have 5 EVO's or you upgraded after Feb. 1st all 5 lines to Blackberrys; I agree that premuim $10 per phone charge is BS and I feel for you.

I carry 5 lines which are 3 Blackberrys and 2 EVO's and my bill runs just a little over $200 a month. I have shopped elsewere and I can't find anything less expensive. While I pay and extra $20 for the EVO's I also get a discount though my employer, if you work for any large corp or government org you may well be elgible for a 10 to 15 % discount.

My EVO's are data suckers, my daughter's EVO uses well over 2 Gb a month so AT&T's 2Gb Datapro plan won't hack it.

With my 5 lines, we share 1,500 minutes and the most used per month is 200 minutes due to Sprint's any mobile plan, can't find that anywere else.

Leaving Sprint due to cost is like leaving AT&T because they have too much wireless coverage.

Everyone:

Thanks for the input. I am aware any carrier can (and probably will) raise rates but as Snipperdo pointed out, the extra $50/month Sprint will charge me makes the other carriers comparable. So, I am giving AT&T a try and will actually pay slightly less. And their selection of devices is incredible. I'm not getting the unlimited data of Sprint, but with wifi and the 2GB plan, there should be no problem.
I wish you all the best and by all means, if you are happy with Sprint, stay with them. To me, I just did not appreciate the last two rate increases and the way they were done.

Half the time nobody gets the point because it makes no sense.

And also, you realize that the thunderbolt is the EVO for VZW right?
