| | EVO vs EPIC vs EVO SHIFT
i've been thinking a lot and i have come to the conclusion that is my type to jump ship from BB. altho i love the bb, i'm tired of it....i'm not looking forward to anything on the roadmap, unless a torch 2 is coming to spring, which i highly doubt it is.
i've read up all day on these 3 phones and dont know what to do. i'm big on having a keyboard (altho i did test out the evo for 3 weeks and did enjoy it, i returned it because i just missed my bbm and push notifications). im more open to change now b/c im just tired of the bb. so cons of the evo for me is the keyboard, and the battery life when i had it (prior to froyo) was bad, any better now with froyo?
epic cons - i see they dont have froyo yet. i hear htc's sense is better than samsungs. and i read the processor on the epic is better than evos. also read that the epic doesnt have the you tube hq player so you tube videos look really ty compared to evo. can anyone comment on battery life? looks comparable to the evo.
evo shift cons - a slower processor. no front camera, not sure how much i would use it, but i did enjoy playing wit it on the evo. battery life looks comparable to the other two phones.
from what i read the cameras/lens arent really solid on all 3 phones. i did experience that the evo, altho taking good pics, sucked at night. the flash was horrible. and sometimes the focus was out of whack. good pics and videos are a huge deal for me. altho, my bb has been taking some pretty ty pics lately, not sure if its os6 or what. but i will say the flash on my bb is kick ***. maybe a lil too kick ***. lol.
any comments on any of the phones are appreciated. thanks all in advance. (fyi - im almost leaning towards goin back to the evo and seeing if i can just suck up not having a keyboard. seems to have the least of my worries. lol)

Samsung is bad about software updates for all their phones, always.

i love HTC phones because of xda-developers.com
and yes, samsung is very VERY slow at getting updates to their phones.
Keyboards are fine, but the Evo4g has a big enough screen you don't actually need it imo. There are also TONS of software keyboards to choose from if you don't like one or the other.
Not a fan of the Evo Shift because it is a downgraded version of the Evo nearly in every aspect. Doesn't really make any sense.
I just am not sure I could goto a touch phone that isn't 4.3" anymore ha.
Only phone I like coming out soon is the BB Dakota/Magnum as i really enjoyed the Bold 9650 the month-ish I had it...except it was a bit laggy at times, even just typing out texts. Keyboard was fantastic though.

I've been in a similar place as you, cept I haven't given up on my bb yet. I looked at all 3 phones ( even played with the evo a bit as my wife has one ) and I decided a physical keyboard is important to me, but I have horizontal sliders, hate having to rotate the phone... That being said if there was a vertical slider ( ala torch ) other than a palm on sprint ( would perfer BB or droid ) I would dump my 8330 in a heart beat. Either way man good luck.

Shift will be faster than both the Epic and the EVO. While the shift has a slower processer than the EVO (800 vs 1G) it is a newer generation procesor. Quadrant test, Shift beat both of them.

(fyi - im almost leaning towards goin back to the evo and seeing if i can just suck up not having a keyboard. seems to have the least of my worries. lol) | The Evo Shift's 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7630 is much faster than both the Evo's Snapdragon processor and the Epic's Hummingbird processor. With the Shift I'm gettin 1500 - 1600 on Quadrant, my brother is getting about 1200 on his Evo.
From Android Central.... http://www.androidcentral.com/htc-evo-shift-4g-review
"And the Shift has quite a bit of muscle, with Qualcomm's single-core MSM7630 processor running at 800MHz. It's worth repeating at this point that you shouldn't read too much into the Shift's processor running at 800MHz instead of the 1GHz chip we see in other HTC phones, including the original EVO 4G. It's a different architecture. Think of water rushing through a pipe. The pipe's larger on the Shift, so you can push more water (data) without having to push it as fast. It's more efficient."

My other half has the Evo Shift. His device smokes my Evo in the speed department. Anyone coming from a Blackberry to Android and has to have a physical keyboard, I highly suggest the Evo Shift. If you want the big screen and multimedia perks, the Evo is for you.

The EVO Shift is a mini beast.. I have never used the Epic but just from playing with it in the store it felt cheap. I mean c'mon it's a samsung.
I had a hard time deciding between the the Shift and the Evo and I think I made the right choice. I chose the shift for several reasons. 1. I didn't need a FFC, so that was no big deal. 2. I like having the option of a physical keyboard (although I use the on screen more) 3. The size.. I like being able to fit it in my pocket. 4. I didn't want to buy a device that had already been out for a year. 5. This thing is freakin' fast!

Thanks for all the input guys, the evo shift is actually a mini beast. |

| | Nexus S – The new Android phone from Google
Compare the differences yourself. They don't even really share much in common so not sure why you want to compare the two... Particularly if you want a qwerty keyboard then I don't think anyone like that is going to look at the Nexus S in the first place...
