Buying new device @ Best Buy while under current contract?

I am interested in buying a new Sprint device at Best Buy, and I am currently under a 2 year contract and I'm not up for a renewal for another 236 days. Full price on Sprint.com seems like highway robbery to me... $499!

Someone told me that even if my contract isn't up for renewal, I can buy a new device at Best Buy for a cheap price if I just renew for another 2 years on the day of purchase. Is this true? The device I'm looking at retails for $499, and would be $149 with a renewal.

best thing to do is stop in at Best Buy and see.
they do advertise upgrading while under contract a lot.

yeah i have had a few friends do it but they said the bb reps are more pushy than normal with getting their insurance.

as far as I am aware this not possible. Perhaps the primary line on a premier account as they used to have a yearly upgrade or if someone did a buy up to renew their contract.
