Worked for me a couple days ago. Now I'm month to month. Just be persistent and tell them that it is a material change and that you want to go month to month (if you want to stay with Sprint but out of contract) or tell them you want ETF waived if you port out.

If you are tired of the hassles of contracts, you may also want to try Sprint's prepaid/no-contract divisions: Virgin Mobile and Boost. I'm very happy with the service and low-priced, flexible plans Virgin Mobile provides me. I most likely will never go back to contract plans again.

Fyi, I called on this and was offered to cancel all of my 5 lines with no ETF! Not well thought out on my part because all the other carriers are so much more expensive, I think I'm going to stay anyway! They would not just mark my contract as fulfilled--only offer me the chance to cancel at the end of my bill cycle with no ETF.

After speaking with 3 people and still not having been able to get anything in writing that I requested for, Supposedly they are cancelling our account. I asked for a hard copy or an email stating that we are not going to incur an ETF and the supervisor said that she was not able to provide one. So I had to take her verbal word that it is happening. She said they were mailing the notice tomorrow, about the increase in charges. She also said that she could send me a copy of the Sprint Terms of Service. She verbally stated that my account would be cancelled as of Sept 20th when my billing cycle ends. But I was not able to get, like I said before, a hard copy or email stating we will not incur an early termination fee. So I am having to go on faith until my account ends... aggghhhh I am glad I am getting out early!!!
So I have to trust....

Yes they also offered me that, verbally... I've yet to wait and see....

Wish they would let me upgrade to 2 iPhones mid Oct but they'd rather let 5 lines cancel than do that. Makes sense. I don't want to go through porting 5 lines to prepay to play that game.

Just so all of you know, they told me that for the admin fee they can charge me up to 1.99 a month for that, I had asked to see evidence of this so they pointed me to the terms and conditions page on their website. I had also asked to speak to the woman's supervisor who never actually got around to me until after the woman told me she talked to her supervisor and was told to wave the ETF, I then asked if I could go month to month and that is when the supervisor got on the phone. The supervisor told me that I cannot go month to month and that if I keep using their service I will be agreeing to the new terms and conditions. I Made no decision and she told me I have until the end up September to make my desicion.

I can call back after Sep 7, when the charge appears on my statement and then set my lines to cancel at the end of the bill cycle. That A little scared to actually port based on verbal statements. I have 5 lines, I mean what if I get like $1,000 in ETF by screwing around? If I call back in and say, "hey, you guys said I wouldn't" it's my word against theirs and once I've left they have no reason to keep me happy. Maybe I'm overly paranoid but $1,000 is a lot of money to maybe/maybe not get charged.

If you read the slick deals website ref by the OP, some people are porting to pre pay and then going to wait and come back to Sprint. The intention being to get a new phone. That's a lot of work!

Am I still able to get out of contract with Sprint? I know this is a dumb question, but what does ETF mean? Is that the enormous fee they usually charge for when you break your contract early?
I have decided to go to Virgin Mobile... Finances have changed and I need to get a less expensive mobile plan.

sorry, yesterday was just trying to figure out what all this mess is - sprint just told me that "were on service agreements" not a contract - not sure what to do with all the changes they've been making lately.

i don't want to make any rash decisions, but they are changing and not necessaryily for the best - seems to be working in they're favor - sorry everyone, venting
