Default Is Sprint/Nextel being bought out?

I have read on the internet that Tmobile will buy Sprint next year, and asked at a Sprint store the other day and they just told me it was rumors. I spoke with someone who works for Tmobile and they told me that they will buy Sprint next year, he said thats what this project black is. I dont know if its true or not, does anyone know?

Rumor a month or so ago that Deutsche Telecom (T-Mobile's owner), was looking into the possibility of a buy in of Sprint. More of a merger than a takeover. T-Mob was talking to their bank or something. Haven't heard anymore about it.

    Found this, dated 9/14:

Talk of a merger between Sprint Nextel Corp. (S: 2.91 -0.03 -1.02%) and Deutsche Telekom AG (DT: 13.69 +0.16 +1.18%), emerged yesterday (Monday) sending Sprint’s stock soaring 10% to close at $4.15 a share. If the companies merged, Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile Unit would surpass AT&T Inc. (T: 25.53 +0.17 +0.67%) and Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ: 29.10 +0.03 +0.10%) to become the new leader with more than 30% market share of the U.S. wireless industry, Reuters reported.

I hope after all the damn network failures over the past months that T-Mobile doesn't buy Sprint!

Don't they use different technologies, anyway? What a crappy idea...remember when Sprint bought Nextel? A load of good that did them! Their network was no better but they had twice the problems.

Doesn't make sense. Why would a GSM Network buy a CDMA Network?

The rumors have been around for a long time, just like Google is going to buy Sprint and become G-mobile.
Tact is for those who aren't witty enough to be sarcastic

There, Their, and They're are not interchangeable. Come on people learn the difference among the 3.

Maybr because they rent space on GSM towers and would like to have their own towers for cheaper? Or maybe they want to be a hybrid so people can go to them regardless of which network they prefer.

Anymore all the companies are renting space. At least here in my state, most 'towers' are a tower company, leasing space to any and all.

Man I don't want to hear that at all! I just switched back to Sprint from Verizon after a 4 year Sprint Hiatus. I absolutely loathe T-mobile. If that happens I would have to go back to Verizon

I believe Sprint sold off their towers and leases the usage back. Why I don't know. If anything it may have to do with their need to increase their cash holdings.

Regardless, this rumor has been going on for a while. Though one would think the FCC would have an issue with this, the truth is the FCC is not always in the best interest of the public, rather for the highest dollar. Sad but true.

Besides, T-mo's owner doesn't have the capital to buy and wouldn't get a take-over given Sprint's involvement with WiMax partners.

Bottom line, it's not gonna happen.

If there were ever a merger with any company and sprint you would think it was palm or microsoft, like a partnership, ie google tmo. just my opinion,

t-mobile would have to give an arm and a leg to make their newly bought sprint CDMA network compatible with their existing GSM network. even if they were to acquire sprint, it will be owned by the same parent company and sprint's existing CDMA would be untouched. essentially it would just be change in ownership.
