Sprint For Life
Ok, just got off the phone with Sprint and have to share this.. Some background first. I had Sprint in the 90s, than went to Altell for a couple of years. Went back to Sprint in 2001 and been with them ever since. I am an OTR truck driver and all over the lower 48 and very rarely hit a dead zone.
I currently have two Curves on the Everything Data 1500 share plan. Now with Any Mobile Anytime.
I called to ask if I was on the best plan or could switch to something different. As I thought, I am on the best plan. Even if I split the phones up to the 69.99 plan I would pay the same as I am now but only have 450 anytime minutes (I realize that is kind of a mute point now though)
Anyway, I than asked if my phones were eligible for an upgrade, which they are.. After getting the price of the Tour, not sure I want to shell out the cash. She than asked if I had looked at a Pre. I have, but the keys seem to small for me.
Now for the good part. She proceeds to tell me that if I renew my contract on both lines for another 2 years she could give me a $70 credit per line. I still am eligible for the upgrade too and can do it now or 6 months from now.
Bottom line is I called to ask a simpke question about my plan and ended up getting a $140 credit to my account just for renewing the lines. That makes this months bill a whopping $35.
THANK YOU SPRINT!!!! And thank you for taking the time to read this.. I don't care what anyone says, you can't beat Sprint IMO.

The $70 renewal credit per line is pretty basic for all Sprint customers. It's nice she offered it to you without you having to ask. Lots of others have complained about "losing their upgrade credit" by using the $70 renewal credit (which is not true).
I was in a similar situation as you, and have been with Sprint for over 10 years. Last week I renewed my line and got the $70 renewal credit, along with an old $150 credit they owed me, and the $100 MIR, I came out with $21 in my pocket to upgrade to the Tour. I couldn't be happier.
If you do upgrade to the Tour, being a truck driver, make sure to get a car charger as the battery does not last as long as the Curve (or maybe it's just such a nice phone I use it much more!). I have been totally impressed with my phone.
Nice to hear good stories about Sprint. =) - 09-16-2009, 04:24 PM

Yeah, still not sure about upgrading.. We have had no issues with our Curves and mine is pretty much like my mobile laptop. Right now with the instant rebate and it would still cost $299 a phone. Granted than the is the $100 mail-in rebate, but just can't justify spending $600 bucks out of pocket.

Oh, and as for the battery life... I have found that with my Curve it depends greatly on what type and strength of signal I am getting regardless of use. For example, if I am driving through a rural area like I-10 through west Texas I usually just get a 1x and maybe 3 bars. I could not touch the phone and my battery would be almost dead at the end of the day. Now, today I am taking a break and I have a 1XEV signal and full bars. Been on the net all day, facebook, twitter, and 4-5 calls and my battery is only half drained.

You can easily sell your curves on craigslist for $150 ea. if that makes upgrading any easier. Also if your real nice you can get sprint to credit the mail in rebate to your account instead of dealing with the rebate. If you did all this both phones would cost you a whopping $100.
Getting them to credit the rebate is all in who you talk to and how good of a mood they're in. - 09-16-2009, 04:43 PM #7
you could also go to best buy and they automatically take the rebate off. you end up paying the 200 up front and that is it.
as far as the op
thats great to hear they treated you well. thats what dan hesse said he was going to work on when he first go into his role. he seems to be succeeding in his initiatives.
i am in the same boat as you. i am able to upgrade my phone but dont want to go to the tour simply because there is absoletly nothing wrong with my curve.
the tour is an upgrade but as for right now my curve does everything i need and sprint has the best reception in my area so i dont think i am moving anytime soon.twitter: @eve6er69_chris - 09-17-2009, 04:07 AM #8
Am I the only one kind of worried that an OTR driver is on Facebook, Twitter, and just randomly on the phone all the time? I mean, it's dangerous enough in a regular passenger car or truck, let alone a speeding 18-wheeler. lol.
In some ways, I'm just giving you crap, but in other ways, that kind of bothers me. I don't know. - 09-17-2009, 07:43 AM

TrippinSkott,
To set your mind at ease.. I was doing a 34hr restart testerday.. I am currently rolling at 0800 this morning. As a professional driver, we are federally mandated to take a 10hr break everyday we drive.. That is when I am on Facebook, Twitter, etc.. Believe me, I witness everyday people doing crazy things while driving. My most important stop is my home and I will NEVER do anything in my control to mess that up.
As for the sppeding 18-wheeler.. My company has all of their trucks governed at 62mph.. So, not much speeding going on here.

I have been a sprint user now for 8 years. I have had multiple phones on multiple cariers and have found sprint is the one and only for me. I seem to just add line after line on my phone but for the sole purpose of upgrades and what not. The sprint tour is and has been nothing but awesome to me. As long as I have a good theme, not a whole heck of a lot of backround apps running battery life has been great. I went into bestbuy, i dont know how people feel about not getting thier phones from the carier but why the heck not?, and recieved a Instant rebate to make my phone 199 . So I love it. I suggest it to everyone....
