Service dropping randomly.....
I switched to Sprint last week from T Mobile. After multiple issues with my Curve, I finally got everything up and running well. However, I will be in the same spot with my phone (ie bed, work, couch) for several hours and be sending and receiving data (browser, texts, email, messenger) and then all of a sudden the phone will go quiet. Usually takes me a while to notice and then I will shut the device off and on again. Then the flood comes in. I tried pulling the battery, wiping the device, and resending the service books (all mutliple times). I called Sprint and they recommended I take it to the store. I took it to the store and they were at a loss so they just gave me a whole new device. Still happening. Any ideas????

There are many factors that affect signal strength, including the antenna being used, strength of the transmitter, surrounding terrain, weather conditions, time of day, etc. It's possible that changing weather conditions (as pockets of slightly different air densities can lead to drastic changes in signal performance) are responsible for the phenomenon you're experiencing, especially if you have weak reception to begin with. How many bars does your handheld show normally while you're in your bedroom?

You may be experiencing some "border issues" where your phone is not quite sure which tower to connect to so it kind of gets "lost". Not much can be done if that is indeed the problem.
However using an airrave at home may be a solution, as well as (odd as it may sound) changing your phone number (if you are not already tied to your current one). However if you do change your phone number you would want to be sure and get one that is even if yours ends in an odd number, or vice versa.

Maybe a PRL update would help?

Oh Please - Not everyone needs to be wallet raped and have their phones crippled by Verizon...
OP - Call Sprint retentions and advise that service is not working in the house they will supply you with an Airave device, it will solve all you problems...They will provide it Free and Free Monthly service. - 01-22-2009, 07:45 AM

Thanks for all your help!!!
I switched from T Mobile to Sprint for the unlimited everything plan-Verizon does not have that option. Plus you should probably remember that you are in the Sprint forum and therefore you will be dealing with Sprint users. Not everyone wants to or can go to Verizon.
I am heading back to the Sprint store today-they said that they have to reconfigure my service (whatever that means). The tech in the Colo Springs store that I have been dealing with is amazing and he blocked out an hour of his time for me today. I will be sure to mention the Airave option to him-maybe this is something he can just hook me up with out of the store???
I will let you all know what happens....

Call Sprint customer service and tell them you want a PRL update. After you get off the phone with them, dial *2 (make sure you're not roaming when you do this) and it will send the update. After it finishes, do a soft (alt + shift + del) or hard (batt. pull) reset.
