Returned 8350i
Hi all,
I am awaiting a replacement 8350i for mine. I was having way too many problems with the phone; I'm hoping it was just a bad phone and my next one won't be like this. Anyway, these are the problems I was experiencing:
1. Would not connect to radio in anyway, it would say "off" next to antenna. Master Radio Reset would not fix it.
2. Data would keep dropping. Normal use would say NXTL meaning all is good. I would constantly have NXTl meaning my connection to BIS is down. Battery pulls did not help and eventually led to problem 1.
3. SMS/MMS would not come through for about 24 hours.
I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of them off the top of my head.
Anyways, I'm waiting on my new 8350i to show up. If this one does the same thing, I'll probably just get an 8330 or something. No point in paying an arm and a leg for a phone that doesn't work right.

I made the jump from my i880 to a Curve 8330 on CDMA and I havent missed iDen one bit. I love the speeds I get on EVDO!!!
I was thinking about looking back into getting a 8350i to swap to and from but after the majority of messaging and RF horror stories I am hearing, Ill stick with CDMA. - 12-19-2008, 03:17 PM

yea everything deserves a second chance lol...nah but i think u might have just had a defective phone cuz i had the same problem yours did except mine didnt receive texts or allowed me to go on the internet at all when i first got it...but after hassling sprint/nextel and being on the phone with tech support (which did nothing) the phone start working on its own...tech support said they had a backlog in the system
Well mine is working fine so far, i just wanna put some themes on here but im not sure if it will brick the phone so ill wait to someone else tries it first lolHad my 8350i since 6:19pm 12/17/08 and im still having problems with it....i should have got the sprint blackberry!!! - 12-19-2008, 04:41 PM

if u use dirext connect a lot you really can't beat nextel. I went from an i930. To the curve and couldn't be happier! Hope your next phone is a good one.

If this next 8350i fails, I will have my i930 signed up just for texting then I will have an 8330 on the simply everything plan. That way I have my PTT as well as the amazing speed of cdma.

BB 8350i
So far I have not had a problem with the new 8350i. I changed from the 7100i. From the past I learned to use the SIM card sent with the phone and call to activate versus swapping the SIM card and your off. Also I learned it was best to sync the BB with your desk top to save the contacts and re-load them from your desk top, versus replicating the SIM card. Any way the change over was seemless, after activation the representative did tell me it could take up to 24 hours for all services to be active however I would say the change over was rather quick....

I activated the sim out of the box. I went into a sprint store and had them copy my sim card for me, thats when I started getting crappy service. My sim card is pretty scratched up on the conductors. I'm hoping a new phone will be the fix. I am going to just type in every contact this time.

I bought 2 of the 8350i's and the are working great and surprisely very fast on the iden even though I was prepared for slower. The texting messaging taking longer on mine was a simple battery pull fix and now they are lightening fast coming through.

Yes. 3-5 days. Oh well. I'm probably going to end up with an 8330 by the end of the month. I'm seriously thinking about canceling my order. I mean, the wifi is awesome on the 8350i, but I'd like the speed everywhere. :/ Decisions, decisions.
