    Default OS 4.5 for Sprint?

I just can't seem to get any help from CS, so I'll just throw this question out - any idea when Sprint plans to release OS 4.5? I really look forward to HTML e-mail and Docs To Go, but I sure don't want to wait 6 months for it.

If I were braver I'd try to install one of the betas out there, but I'm just not feeling lucky!

Thanks so much for your help!

I can't say this for sure but I suspect that Sprint will hold off until OS 4.6 is released. They apparently already have plans to release the IDEN curve with 4.6 sometime this fall, so we will see what happens then. By the way, I to was a little hesitant to try installing the betas, but after reading the many post about .77 I went ahead and jumped in and it works great! Haven't had any issues. Just be aware if you decide to try out 4.5.077 you will loose your pre-installed ringtones which was no biggie for me.

I read this statement often in posts related to .77. However, I have .77 on my 8330 and still have all of the pre-installed ringtones.

Not *officially* for Sprint; for other carriers. But, you can install it at your own risk by following the detailed instructions in this site on how to install another vendor's product. Check the BB 83xx forum.

100% correct. Also for anybody who does not run a carrier approved OS and if you ever need any tech support, Sprint will more and likely not help you as they did not approve of this on their devices nor are trained on the OS.

I was told by a guy in the level 2 BB tech
support that Sprint has not even started
on 4.5 and this was just several weeks ago. I know this guy worked with him before, I've been with Sprint 10 years and usually if he says it's so it's so.

I'm thinking I'm going to try the 4.5.0.77 install. I have the file downloaded (8830uAMEA_PBr4.5.0_rel101_PL3.2.0.51_A4.5.0.77.ex e), but can't seem to find the post with the detailed instructions and caveats. Anyone have a link to the post?

I'm going to wait to see if it gets released next week. There is another post where RIM said in its IT newsletter for IT professionals to be ready for the 4.5 release later this month. Hoping that Sprint is ready to go and just waiting for RIM to officially release in the US.

I will wait for the "official" update, whether it is 4.5 or 4.6 - but I do hope it is soon! I'm tiring of all of the posts and questions about the betas - but then there will be questions about when the update for 4.5 or 4.6 will be coming. lol
