you need to call customer service and have them flag your account for a PRL update. the newer phones can update OTA but the curve i dont think can. if you can you have to go into the connection manager and press your bb button and update preferred list. either way will get it done.

Once again, it depends on the CSR that you get. I was told that CSRs aren't able to flag your account, and that you must either have received a text from Sprint and dial *2 to have it happen automatically, or to go to a corporate store. As other people have had their accounts flagged for a PRL update, I am calling BS and will have to try another CSR another day. I was, however, told that there had been 61 reported tower outages in my area in the past month. When I asked for clarification, I was told there are four towers in my immediate area and that all four had been reported as not functioning correctly - a total of 61 reports covering the four towers in question - in the past month. He said they are all scheduled for repair this month. HELLO -- no wonder I have been having crappy coverage lately. I was offered the airave - at a charge of $99.99 for the unit and $4.99/mo. If I could get the unit for free, I would gladly pay the monthly charge. I am even considering paying for the unit, but it kind of irks me that others have gotten it free with the monthly charge waived. Oh well...maybe I will try again another day, and I may eventually decide to just pay for the unit...

Call Sprint *2, Tell them you want to Update your PRL they will flag your account, then you hang up and Call back, Watch your Screen and it will Say updating PRL once completed hang up and your done.

For those With the HERO or Tour you can go into your settings and Update PRL from the Device

The update is usually available by *2 and it will say there is a update. This updates your devices ability to find new or reworked towers in your area. I did the *2 and nothing was available for me.

You have to talk to a rep and have them flag your account for the update

Used the update roaming list option on the Tour. Only thing is, how do you actually verify what your current PRL is? lol...

Probably running OS5? I had the same problem when using OS5 the PRL update wouldn't go thru. I had to go back to official release.

Is there any way to update the PRL on 5.0? The phone reboots when selecting the built-in option.

You can easily just go back after you've updated the PRL.

    very helpful thread so far

can someone explain to me how to update this from my tour??

    TIA

EDIT: nevermind I think I figured it out. I went into Option>Mobile Network>hit blackberry button and select update Preferred List

One thing though - I had checked my status the way mentioned on pg1 and it said I was on 60652, Now I am on 60654. Still not on 60655??

    Any insight??
