I have been reading about the MMS that everyone is talking about. That is wasnt avaialbe on other phones yada yada yada.
My 8350i is in and am going to pick it up tomorrow.
my question is what is hte difference between SMS and MMS
I have been using the 7520 for some time now and can send and receive MMS get picture mail with no problem. All the text I send are labled as MMS. SMS is in the menu but is never used.

Short message service - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
not that wikipedia is the law, but that gives you the general idea. - 12-16-2008, 02:14 PM #3
SMS is 160 charachters or less text messages. MMS is longer text messages, and can also send pictures, video, voice recordings, etc. Since you are getting a Nextel BB, you should be fine with MMS. It seems to only be the Sprint BBs that are afflicted by the absense of MMS.

While that is true, Nextel uses IDEN, which is the lesser of EVDO. Slower network speeds are not worth features like wi-fi and mms. Eventually sprint will give their bb's mms capabilities. Wi-fi isn't a major concern to me right now, but I will admit it'd be nice.
Imo, faster network with less features beats a slower network with one or two more features everytime.
Plus IDEN will be close to dead within the next 2-5 years. Its a waste of money for the 8350i.
