iphone coming to sprint?
I've heard alot of talk saying the iPhone is coming to sprint sometime in 2010/2011. Can anybody give some information about this?
I'm really curious and would like to plan accordingly with my upgrade.
Also, anybody have an expected date to when we're going to see the Tour2 (Essex)?
Thanks!

I don't have any love for the iPhone, but I happen to agree with that. AT&T has so many complaints with service, yet it continues to be overlooked and/or disregarded because they have this toy. I don't think that AT&T would simply let a money maker like that slip away.

I agree with that, and its sad that it has to be that way. A CDMA iPhone would be a complete gain.
I guess all of us with Sprint and Verizon should just keep dreaming because we won't be seeing a iPhone anytime soon.
Maybe we can hope for a new Instinct--that was a great iPhone alternative. SIKE!Follow me on Twitter @tylerjross10 - 03-10-2010, 12:31 PM #12Sprint Premier Member Since 09/19/04

See the problem with the iPhone coming sprint, which is a rumor and no where confirmed at all, is that phone itself is geared to talk and browse the web at the same time. This functionality is normally only availble through the TDMA system or GSM and Sprint cdma and Verizon cant do it. So if the iPhone does come to a CDMA type system it would lose one of its functions and selling points.

Agreed! The itouch does just about everything that an iphone can do.... I spend most of my time at work and home, where there is always a wi-fi connection available to me in both places. I would RATHER do this way rather than buy an iphone at all. I love my Tour, just wish it had more fun stuff like the iphone.

Just to clarify, neither TDMA nor GSM can do simultaneous voice and data. Try doing voice and data when your iPhone is on EDGE, doesn't work.
Only 3G in the UMTS variety (which is what most GSM carriers offer) can do simultaneous voice and data.
Also, Qualcomm, the company that is behind CDMA (1X/EV-DO) is releasing an update to both standards to allow simultaneous voice and data. Two things, though ... 1: the network has to actually do the upgrade, and 2: it will only work on new phones that have the new chip in it.Happily using an iPhone 5 for personal but wanting a Z10 for work on Verizon's fast 4GLTE Network! - 03-12-2010, 01:59 PM #17
Im not an ATT hater or anything but they have so many complaints, constantly loose every year when all the carriers are rated, all my buddies with an iPhone love the phone but always say the same thing: "I never even have 3G". BUT, everyone wants that iPhone soooo it doesnt matter.

With RIM - Google - Microsoft - Palm getting on all carriers this is going to force Apple hand...They have to know they cannot remain exclusive to ATT and keep mindshare...Not going to happen.

I would think sprint is the last carrier the iPhone would be on

^^^^^ Please APPLE HATES VERIZON you'd have a better chance of it lunching on Sprint before Verizon.....Remember the crowd follows Apple, Apple doesn't follow crowds..if they launch on metro pcs, Metro would be the carrier to have......
I'm making my call now the iphone will be on Sprint

Except for the fact that metro's network would literally die if you added the iphone to it, not just various issues like AT&T...
I'm quite certain that Tmobile has a far, far better shot than Sprint. And this is business, not a popularity contest. Apple doesn't have to like Verizon to release a handset with them...My website http://papped.webatu.com - 03-19-2010, 02:20 PM #24
I wouldn't be sad if the iPhone didn't come to Sprint.
