Default Curve quits ringing and making any sound daily

Every day both mine and my wife's Curve 8330's quit ringing after a few hours every day. I reboot them both every stinking morning, they work for awhile then they won't ring and I have to reboot them again to get them to ring. No sounds when a text come in, nor an IM, nothing.

Getting tired of it, taken them to the store and they do a battery pull and tell us to do that daily, and look at me like I'm a lying stupid moron when I tell them I do.

    Any suggestions? Thanks.

What operating software do you have? There is a known issue with sounds on later versions of OS 4.5.xxx...Many others are having the same issue.

    I think 4.5.0. How do I check?

Yep, that is more than likely your problem. Search the forums, and you'll find a few other similar threads. My wife's Curve is doing the same thing. A battery pull usually cures it temporarily. I can live with it until they come out with a fix. (Soon I hope)

Yes, you should be able to downgrade the OS.

I was going to do this due to the same issue. However, it turns out I downloaded a pic that was a corrupted file. Hasn't lost the ringtones since I deleted that picture.

My curve started doing the same thing following the upgrade, and I have found that simply starting up voice commands (sometimes required twice) will get it to work and is usually a much quicker fix than a battery pull.

How did you find the corrupted file?

I figured mine out because I keep track of whatever mine does. A friend of mine reported she had a major crash problem after I sent her a pic. She found hers scanning the card on a PC. It was the one I sent her.

Since I knew it was an image file on hers, I went to my new downloads file, deleted the last image I downloaded, and my issues went away immediately.

A corrupted file will definitely cause strange behavior.
