Buying phone from Best Buy online. Good idea?
I noticed that Best Buy offers phones with the rebates taken off already. Pearl 8130 is $119. Most phones, when compared to carrier websites (all of the big 4 carriers) are as cheap as they are with rebates but you don't have to send in the rebate.
I noticed that the return/exchange policy is a bit different. More complicated. I also don't know if they are refurbs or new phones.
It sounds intriguing as I am going to be buying a Pearl for Sprint on Wed.
Any info would be appreciated. - 04-11-2008, 05:06 PM #2
They're new phones, but you can't return or exchange the phone to a corp store. Best buy refused to do a 30 day return for me a few years ago soi don't purchase phones from them. If you don't have any issues then you can get a good price!

I don't do business with Best Buy for many reasons, so I can't recommend that anyone buys anything from them.

I work for an independent record label that has dealt exclusively with Best Buy for the last 15 years. Being that we're both in the Minneapolis area, I feel that even though it's a 'big brother' company, I'm giving back a bit to the home town.
While I don't agree with a lot of what BB is doing for the music business, I support them as an electronics store. They've never steered me wrong and aside from buying from a mom and pop shop, I would (and will) choose BB over any other major electronics store.
Thanks for all the input - 04-12-2008, 01:46 AM #8
I recommend if you are going to buy a BB new, buy it from your carrier even if you have to wait for the rebate.

I got mine from Radioshack online for free! It was $99 with a $99 mail in rebate. Just picked up my Pearl about two weeks ago, so they should still have it going on. No problems whatsoever. I ordered it around 5p on a Wednesday and had it at my door Thursday around 7p. I would definitely look in to it.

as a BB employee i know that the product sold online is backed by the 30 day warranty, and is all new product, usually can be returned at the store, but not exchanged. they can only refund the full purchase.
best buy partnered with carphone warehouse for all their cell phone stuff now, which is one of the biggest in the nation, so thats why they are stepping into the business like that. alot of carriers are shutting down independent stand alone stores now since best buy has done this.
just my $.02
