EveryLock - Blackberry Application Review
Recently I upgraded my Blackberry from a Tour 9630 running OS 5.xx to a Bold 9780 Running OS 6.0. Only to learn that most of the 80 or so apps, games and themes that I have paid good money for, are not compatible with my new Blackberry.
With that said, the reason I am taking the time to write this review is because one of the apps I had on my older Tour 9630 was a locking app (much like this one) that I downloaded onto my new Bold and found it to no longer work the way it used to. After numerous emails to the developer of said app and countless days of absolutely no acknowledgment, I decided to look for a new app that would do the job. (You will understand, as a paying customer, how frustrating it is to first of all run into a problem with something you have paid for and then also to be ignored by the people who have made the flawed product and secondly, to have to buy the product or something like it...again).
That is where EveryLock comes in. After, what seemed like hours I finally found something that I though would do the job that my old app used to do, minus the glitches and memory leaks. I'm sure you will understand that I was a little leary to pay for EveryLock only to find out that it didn't do what it said it did; so on Nov. 27 I emailed support to tell them my story and ask if it was possible to get a limited trial of the app to figure out if it was what I needed. They responded within a couple of hours and hooked me up with a 5 day trial.
I tested out the app for almost a day; running it through test after test. I tried to lock almost everything I could find on my phone and SD card. I discovered that this app actually used some kind of compression (way over my head - which was a good thing) to lock things down. My old app just changed file extensions on my files that were easy to "unlock" via a data cable and PC. The trouble was that it took too long to lock the files with the compression the developer was using. I emailed the developer my findings and for the next 3 days we emailed (literally near a hundred times) back and forth. He would work on the app to make it quicker and I would uninstall the old and install the new. Each time I would run it through a series of tests and email him again. Today he sent me another trial copy of the app that I believe to be the best Locking App out there. It locks any application you have on your phone; albeit native or third party. It now locks up your personal files (device memory or SD Card) with lightning speed and efficiency. If you don't want anyone but you to use it or see it...EveryLock is the application for you. Plus, if you do run into a problem (which you shouldn't) you know from my experience with this application that the developer will back it 100%. Oh and I'm also happy to say that it's Guaranteed OS 6.0 compatible.
EveryLock can be reviewed and purchased from the Crackberry Store.
I know the forum guidelines state that reviews should be for apps tested long term, but because I am running OS 6.0, that just isn't possible. I have thoroughly tested this application personally and strongly recommend it for users needing to password protect applications or personal files on their phones. I also hope that the moderators would take into account both the developers hard work in making this application OS 6 compatible (while listening to an actual user) and also the fact that most of us running 6.0 are having serious issues finding applications, games and themes that are compatible with our new OS.
