Default BAQ Tracker Mobile - Manage your Blood Alcohol responsibly

Every so often, an application comes along that answers the question: Why a SmartPhone?

Ladybug Teknologies Inc. has created the BlackBerry Blood Alcohol Quotient tracker.

... 3Hr ...

BAQ Tracker: "THE real time drinking buddy for the socially responsible drinker. ..."

For about the cost of a couple drinks, including tip, this educational tool can be that voice of reason ....

The application uses the same data that has been established by forensic science, to calculate a BAC in real time.

In addition to the principal user, you can create a profile to monitor your friends. Note in the first image, there is a profile for a young female, about 2/3 my body weight. That same drink has nearly twice the effect on the smaller volume of blood, resulting in a increased intoxication.

As an educational tool, it provides instant feedback. Prepare for a lot of "do me" from your friends. Each persons profile is unique and based on Age, Sex, Weight and Hight. Selecting a beverage choice from the list of popular drinks provides immediate feed back on BAC.

The first time I showed it to a group of friends at a Pub, they ran down my battery with a near 100% screen duty cycle.

In practice, it has verified my assumptions about moderate social drinking. It is worth while knowing where you stand, when the "last call" is offered.

I made arrangement for my transportation and set out to explore the outer edges of the envelope.

With the cooperation of my server, she frequently over-pours me, I switched to doubles. In the 3 hour test period, I had consumed enough to hit 0.10%. That is twice the degree of intoxication that would justify a motor vehicle warning, or worse.

The next couple hours, I refrained and watched my BAC drop back. Only time time do that.

Interesting but as a non-drinker this is one app I will never see installed.

I added this app to my Curve 8330. I've had a few issues with it:

-After setting up my profile, I tried to add a friend in. It wouldn't allow me to switch between my friend and myself. I deleted my friend, and now the icon for my profile won't show up. I can add drinks, but have no idea if it's tracking them for me or a pre-set.

There's also not an option to delete the original profile you create. You can change the information, but not reset it. I thought that deleting it might have helped.

-There's no way to check for updates. Since I had the above problem, I have no way to reinstall the program.

-Support wasn't much help. The only response I got was that "they haven't heard of that issue with anyone else."

-There's a good range of standard size drinks to choose from, but nothing for a "double."

Drink Choices:
-Pint (16 oz-5%)
-Bottle (12 oz-5%)
-Small Glass Wine (5 oz-13%)
-Large Glass Wine (8 oz-13%)
-Mixed Drink (1.5 oz-40%)
-Martini (2 oz-40%)
-Shot (1.5 oz-40%)
-Shooter(2 oz-40%)
-Cooler (12 oz-7%)

It's definitely an interesting app to have if you enjoy a drink or two while you're away from home. I find that it helps to keep you from getting too far ahead of yourself. In other words, if you're getting close to the limit it's easy to stop yourself. In my state, it's .08. If I get near that, I know it's time to drink a water or stop completely. If you do go too far and wind up over the limit, the "Time to 0%" countdown is extremely helpful.

Now, if I could just get the bugs out... Until then, it's a 3 out of 5 stars.

Has anyone tried the Blood Alcohol Calculator? Its new on App World from Cool Gadgets and let's you input your settings your body as well as for individual drinks (content etc). My Mixed Drinks are made Tall where I go so I was able to add more .OZ for those.
Super easy to use at the push of a button and simple with "Order" and push again "Finish".

I just wish they added a couple of "Custom" drinks as well which would allow us to add more of what we drink.

I just made the mistake of buying BAQ and it sucks in comparison to Blood Alcohol Calculator by Cool Gadgets, in that it does NOT list all the drinks you have been having this session -- this is important for a drunk person to visually see what they have been drinking. I cannot believe they left such an integral and simple function out. What a waste of $8.99! I want my money back. They should let you try it before you buy it like the Blood Alcohol Calculator by Cool Gadgets does. I suggest you try it out immediately and help in the development efforts of that better App.

I am going to stick with Blood Alcohol Calculator by Cool Gadgets. Sheesh! Far superior.
