I LOVE my Pearl... but then again, I gave up all pretenses of masculinity when we bought a minivan... maybe I should just sit back, work on my cross stitch, and watch some wrestling...

LOL... That's true. I'm not a fan of the track ball, but that's just personal preference. I'm a little concerned that RIM might be moving too far away from what the BB was designed for to get a larger market share. But, we'll have to wait and see how it plays out I guess.

I love my Pearl, it fits nicely into my handbag

Seriously though I do not find it especially girly.

I'm a dude with the silver Verizon pearl and black skin, manly looking if you ask. All this productivity, suretype and I'm able to keep it my pocket unlike the bulky other BB. I chuckle at execs on the elevator with those bricks 8703 hahaha

This is my first smartphone. When I was researching the different makes and models, the one thing that drew me to the Pearl was the over package ( design/style/size) . It wasn’t bulky like some of the other smartphones, and the features were either comparable or superior .

Being a Verizon customer I have not had a chance to evaluate the Curve (but you can bet I will be down at my local store when they come in to “check 'em out”) But as it sits right now I AM A HAPPY MAN with my Pearl. I only wonder what took me so long to get on the smartphone/Blackberry bandwagon.

BTW, less than a month after I got my Pearl, my lovely bride (of 30 years) got one. She has a pink skin on hers, I have a OD green on my (I got to manly it up some, don’t ?).

Excellent replies on all accounts!
I used to have both the 7520 (manly) and 7100i (still manly because it was Nextel rugged).
I then went with the Treo 700p (yikes!!!) and then a blue 755p (yikes again).
I messed with a 8830 and the 8130 and chose the Pearl because it offered every bit what the world phone offered in half the size. I don't really need a world phone when I rarely leave Ohio.....
I would rather have the silver of the Verizon Pearl, but I would still have a Pearl.

Haha. I work at a Cellphone store and show my pearl regularly to customers and i do get my fair share of arched eyebrows and "Aren't pearls for girls" I usually laugh at them, which kinda shocks the customers then i show them what TaterTot can do. Usually they end up buying the berry. Or if that doesn't work i might mention something like "Oh you are right. I guess i didn't realize that effeciency and productivity were such feminine traits. We had better tell every president of Fortune 500 companies to simmer down or they might be a 'chick' " That usually shuts them up.

I have the amethyst pearl and it's pretty manly to me. For me it's all about the design or background picture. As long as it's not a pic of you and girlfriend/wife your in the clear!
