Hey Mods...let's un-censor some word....
Ok Since Kevin posted his views on the BB10 OS with the words saying "It gets Sh*t done", I was thinking that some words should be allowed since we aren't living in the 1940's.
Here's my first list :
1) Sh!t
2) P!ss
3) D!ck (hey its a name)
4) He!! (its not a real place)
5) D@mn
6) Cr@p
Add some more PG15 words if I missed some.
Lets make the forums a bit more colorful.
No serious words though as that would be a downward spiral.
Got this idea from reading BGR's comments (after a long time). Say what you will about him, those comments were free flowing and made for hilarious reading
Mods,Please don't ban me if this is not as per policy. Just close it down.
But at least let it play out to chk the lay of the land.

That's nice. And if there are kids on the forum. If people keep cursing again and again? What will happen? Leave it alone.

Too bad we can't insert an audio beep in place of cuss words. Of course then half of my posts would just be one continuous string of beeps.

I think the word i diot got censored in one of my posts (the real word, not a jab at Apple/users.)

The odd thing is that the word eF You See Kay is NOT censored....go figure.

IMO I don't see the need to open this up. Language is used both publicly and privately, actually same now as in 1940. In public, not always knowing who is listening, most people usually adjust their speech.
If we want Crackberry to be more public, and not a restricted private club, it's better if the speech is more public also. I don't think that we really have that much to gain by opening things up, and there is more to lose. IMO - we're all #%ing different....it all started with those two tin cans & a length of string... . . . [///]--------------[\\\] - 05-04-2012, 01:38 PM #11
I agree with this. The site kinda coddles the minority*.
* people who can't handle to see or hear words that are literally used every day (see OP)
There IS however, a "C-word" that is rightfully censored - even though it's the best word in oh so many ways!

how hard is it to write shi+. we all know what it means. everyone should code their swear words. if ur smart enough to use a bb then ur smart enough to understand code. My opinion.

Well I'm not saying to allow all sorts of cuss words. But some words which were "cuss" words in 1920's are no longer cuss words in 2012.
Even Fifth graders use those words.
Anyway, this was a thread that I thought off after having 5 bacardis. So I can be forgiven for raising the topic.
Still waiting to hear from Kevin or some mods on this one.
Onwards to my 8th Bacardi. Cheers folks.

I never noticed the censoring, but I do agree that some of those words aren't really bad words. H3ll should be censored. Sh!t I can see either way. A$$ shouldn't be censored. Damn rightfully isn't censored.

Why should He!! be censored. Its not a real place, only referred to in a fairy tale.
I hope the forums are religion agnostic.
As Richard Dawkins says, there is no god, enjoy your life.
Anyway coming back to censorship, let's do away from some at least. Let's make the forums a bit more fun.

I couldn't care less; however, I don't see a real need for any language expansions on this forum.
Members are already disregarding public respect and decorum here.
No need to have another privileged abused.
It also concerns be that my so-called "peers" would have a need for more colorful language.
I would hope that members here are mature enough and linguistically adept than having to resort to this base form for expression. Aren't we, or should be above that here?
Anyway, I don't think "Damn" is censored, so we can knock that off the list.
Just my thoughts.
Enjoy your conversation guys!MY TAKE ON THE BOLD 9900... I DON'T KNOW HOW, OR WHY, BUT IT WORKS!!!

Hell is censored? I assume it's an American religious thing - here in the UK it's not been a serious swear word in my lifetime (coming up on 40 years) - if you add "bloody" in front of it it makes even less so in my mind (just sterotypically British, and slightly heart warming to tell the truth, especially when said by an 80 year old granny).
The - "won't somebody think of the children" defense for this one is a bit naive for this one - I for one won't berate my children about the use of it, but overuse is pretty crass.
The BBC, ASA, ITC and BSC report "Delete Expletives" from 2000 lists the British swear words in ranked order (fun reading and free pdf download if you google it!). Bloody makes it in at number 27 and hell doesn't even make the list. In the last 12-15 years since the report I imagine it has changed again.
It always amuses me imagining these geriatric Oxford educated BBC and BSC executives sitting round discussing whether one word is worse than another
...
"My dear chap, what do you mean ******-******, you can't be serious old bean, @£%* is much worse"
For, me I couldn't care less about the language used on a forum as long as it is used correctly and with good grammar - but misplace an apostrophe, use "there" when it should the "their" and my blood boils! Don't even get me started on text-speak and using "u" for you...Last edited by Daeve; 05-04-2012 at 02:58 PM. Reason: cleaned up spelling an grammar! ;)

One can only thank the foot inda' mouf' Joey "Potty Piehole" Biden for bringing the level of maturity and linguistic charm to a whole new low; that's a big 'effen deal!
