Besides, if someone lost it, they reported it to their carrier and the phone is locked. You'd be buying a brick. An unethical brick.

That would be the right thing to do. At least that's what I hope someone would do for me, call a contact and return the phone. I'd even give a reward. Always treat others as you'd want to be treated.
