I'm just as stoked as the next guy that CB is closing in on 10 million. But I can't help but think that it's not kosher to allow spam and intentional bumps to achieve it (a la the thread in general discussion).

Doesn't that cheapen the achievement?

After all, the formula had to be adjusted to get an accurate count. Does it really follow suit that the count can be artificially swayed back the other direction?

Nah, I was referring to the 10 Million thread in General Discussion where people are replying with nothing but shameless bumps. Not that it's a big deal (and honestly, if I hadn't had a few snorts of brandy in me I probably wouldn't have taken time to post about it =/ ).

Hey @DenverRalphy, good to hear from you again! You raise a valid concern.

I think what's most important here is we base the 10 million # on as many valid posts as possible. We're doing what we can do ensure all posts are legit, ignoring spam, previously deleted posts and threads, etc.

In terms of the off topic areas, like it or not these areas are still part of our community, and a place where many like to come to hang out and join in the fun. While the posts there might not always be 'on topic' to the core focus of the community, they are certainly part of the overall conversation!
