Default Official RIM Employees on CrackBerry Thread

Hey Folks,

OK, so this is pretty cool. Research In Motion, maker of BlackBerry, is now allowing certain employees (who receive the proper training, permission, etc.) to engage with online communities. That means you will see some comments pop-up in the blogs and forums that are actually from individuals signing off as being from RIM.

To ensure there is no abuse of this (people trying to pose as RIM people), and to make sure the community trusts these individuals and knows who they are, you can refer to this thread.

Right now there are two, and their usernames are:

tr0n - Douglas Soltys
alexkinsella - Alex Kinsella

And we'll keep adding to this list as more RIM employees get in on the action.

I'm super happy to see this from RIM. Thinking back to when I first started CrackBerry, it's awesome to see how much RIM has loosened up. In the early days, RIM employees we're never allowed to talk to anybody. Then at the first BlackBerry DevCon, us bloggers were finally allowed to talk to RIM folks (get interviews with Managers, Directors and VPs) and even RIM started blogging. Now to see RIM peeps officially be allowed to engage on a 3rd party site like CrackBerry is simply awesome.

So kudos to RIM, and welcome to all the RIM employees who we'll see frequent CrackBerry and engage with our community!

Hopefully this will not have a negative impact on future OS leaks.

^^ I hope not either.

Also, now we can get them to listen to our woes, sympathize, and report back to RIM

WIN WIN.

Let all cross our fingers that it won't affect it. Atleast we will get some RIM involvement on the forums

Great news!!!! I have talked to Alex a few times via twitter he's a super cool guy, and I look forward to getting to know Doug also. Actually I think I have seen him around too. Welcome to CrackBerry guys!!!!!! Or at least to actively posting anyways. I'm sure RIM has been reading CB since almost the beginning.

In response to the couple of comments of concern above, I can 10000% GUARANTEE this will have NO IMPACT on the way CrackBerry is run. In other words... whether OS leaks happen or not is completely independent and irrelevant of this. This is simply RIM doing a better job on the social media front.

I think it will be a very good thing for RIM to have some official representation here (and other places, too, but mostly here ) getting a first-hand view of their customer base. We promise not to bug you guys TOO much about release dates, future devices, QNX, etc.

That's probably a lie, but we'll do our best.

Welcome!

To the Above..... Welcome to CB, Happy Hollidays to you and your Families as well.

And I have a Interesting Question to put forth to either of you 2 Rim Individuals. Many of us have been waiting Patiently for News of the Bold 9780 Being Released on AT&T.

It appears at this point that everyone has released the Bold 9780 Globally, in Canada and the US, other than AT&T. Is there anything at all that you can shed in light of the Bold 9780 Being Released on AT&T? and Possibly When?

The truth of the Matter is, the Phone is a "Re-make" of the 9700, so we are not dealing exactly with "Raptor Technology coveted in Cloak". Although many people will run to the defense of AT&T and say, "They are trying to reduce their inventory of the Torch Supply", I have to disagree.... Those who want a Touch Display will buy the Torch, and those who love the 9700, will buy the 9780, "If and when its made available on AT&T". And, its been viewed in photos and You Tubes Galore as a Branded AT&T Phone, so whats the big deal?

It would be nice if someone of Authority would say "Something" that at least would make us know the wait will be productive.

RIMM Cant afford to lose customers, especially customers who are loyal and devoted to Blackberry Devices, like myself. I require a GSM Phone I have 2 choices, AT&T or T-Mobile. T-Mobile cannot provide me with or duplicate what I have with AT&T, In Coverage or Cost- Its Time for AT&T and RIMM to show a little appreciation in return for that loyalty, I dont think its asking much.

Also, It would be nice if Someone from RIMM would tell us, that they intend to put Compeditive Products with "Cutting Edge Technology" so that they will effectively spec out like Droid Pro, EVO, or Nexus S, and I-Phone 4 or 5. It would be nice to know, that there is something coming that will perform as well, if not better than some of the other "High End Technology Smartphones"

Happy Hollidays to you all! Hope you have some answers.
