Default m1.crackberry.com - feedback thread

Hey All,

OK, So we're finally getting close to launching a new mobile template for better viewing of CrackBerry.com from your BlackBerry's web browser. Once we work out the kinks and get it looking good, we'll make it live as an automatic redirect. So if you click any crackberry blog post/wallpaper post/forum post/etc. from your web browser or twitter or email on your BlackBerry, it will push you to the mobile template version of that page (you can always choose to exit the mobile view if you want to in favor of the full site). Conversely, once pushed live, m.crackberry.com will take you straight to the mobile site.

For beta testing purposes, the new mobile template is live @

Premise: It's basically a "lite" version of CrackBerry.com. We won't really be changing the mobile version of the forums right away, but what this adds is login to the main site, so you can view/comment on full blog posts, as well as download ringtones/wallpapers right from the galleries. If you're not a CrackBerry member, you can now register as one right on the mobile site.

Things to note:
- We're leaving the old forums header graphic up for now, but once we push this live the forums header will be the same as the rest of the mobile template (with links to blogs / downloads / search at the top).
- Within the Downloads section, we need to change up the "Apps" graphic to say Free Apps. We also need to update the free apps page currently there with a section for storm-only apps.
- We'll need to play with formatting a bit on blogs, etc. to make everything pretty. Embedded media (youtube videos) don't show up on the BlackBerry, so from now on we'll start putting the direct links below the videos so from your mobile browser you can click them to jump to youtube mobile to watch it.

FEEDBACK, SUGGESTIONS, ETC.

Give it a go and let us know on this thread if you find any bugs or glitches or have any ideas to make it better.

Keep in mind this isn't really a "new site" but rather the same site but in a stripped-down format that is more friendly for mobile viewing. So there are changes we can easily make, while other improvements you want may be not so easy. But list them down and we'll do our best to get it rocking.

Once things are acceptable, we'll flip the switch on the mobile redirects and make everything live! Much thanks!

RUNNING LIST OF BUGS/THINGS WE'LL BE WORKING ON BASED ON FEEDBACK

- column view is buggered on the berry web browser (page view ok). will work on that
- add some spacing between blog post titles on blog page
- possibly center the logo/tab links vs. left justify (will try and see how it all looks)
- add text link color rollovers (vs. just underlines but text staying orange) on links
- add a way to go to the next/previous blog post

... since the above added a TON of tweaks to the list (i went through it in detail). We're working on em... stay tuned!

I think it looks great! Its nice to be able to read the blogs without having to wait for the BB browser to take forever to open the home page and each individual post.

it loads up in 3 seconds on my blackberry
my only con is the spacing between the list of the blog posts
there should be like a double spacing so no1 accidently clicks the wrong post instead of the post they wanted to see
but other than that. it loads quick in bolt, OM 4.2 and 5 beta and regular bb browser

Maybe its just me, but I have to scroll down a full page to get to any posts in column view. Page view is fine, but I think a lot of users surf in column view too.

Also one other suggestion, maybe incorporate a different colour for link rollover, it would probably make for easier navigation. Looks great though.

Love it! A big improvement in my eyes. The only slight issue I saw was that the login icon could stand to be moved closer to the right edge as viewed on my 9000, but I'm nitpicking there.
