    After getting new update from Bell, powered ug the z30 this AM and get black screen. Get email notifications but cant see anything as screen is black. Did reboots, both ways, still nothing. Using BB Link shows all files on device etc. Really confusing and frustrating. Any advice?

    you tried doing the hard reset thing? can't remember if its the vloume up and down at the same time until it reboots? not really sure I'm installing the update via sachesi at this time... US doesn't have it yet....

    Got upgrade from my carrier Bell in Canada...sent a test email to myself and got a chime and blinking red light but can't open the screen. Did hard boot and soft boot and still nothing, but can't tell what's going on as screen remains black.

    If you have an hdmi cable (regular on the tv end, micro on the z30 end), you can plug it into the tv and see if you can see what's happening.

    Since this was an official update, maybe a visit to your carrier (if they are of the more helpful persuasion).

    Or you can try using BBlink or an Autoloader to reload.

    I have the exact same issue . Phone was okay at first until the battery drained. Now the screen won't turn on. Still getting all the sound and vibration notifications when I get messages though.

    What I'll recommend before you get a new screen is try to reset destructively via an autoloader.
    Did you by any chance had a wallpaper app?

    had a pic of a beach from holidays, which wasn't a problem after a download and reboot last night. This morning I couldn't see anything after charging overnight with power off. Can't understand how screen could be pooched from doing that. Have it on charger right now with light flashing so power is off during this procedure.

    Same thing with my Z30. After the update to 10.3.1 and the battery dying the phones screen will not come on. This is obviously a software issue with the recent update. Either there is some setting that is borked, or it actually ended up frying the display somehow.

    If they can't get a fix for this in 48 hours I am going back to an iPhone as I cannot be without a smartphone for longer than that. My Z30 was bought directly from Blackberry and the warranty just lapsed on it a week ago so i do not have the ability to trade it into the Carrier for a replacement.

    I recommend not upgrading to 10.3.1 on your Z30 until this problem is resolved.

    Went to Bell store, got no help, other than to send my Z30 in to BB hospital...no lender phone, no advice on what to do to correct problem so am off the grid for about a month as I was on last month of warranty, luckily, so now I wait....not fun.

    hi there, I've exactly hte same problem: black screen on z30 after battery recharge after upgrade to 10.3.

    the device is 10 day old...

    do you know if is possible to roll it back to 10.2? and how?

    ps. is someone at blackberry trying to address this issue?

    ps2. I can see my screen via an hdmi monitor... but it's not much useful...

    The display is pretty simple to fix. JC has a video that walks you through it. It sucks but it is better than buying a new device or a new contract. As I mentioned, it would run about $60-$70.

    I do think there is a serious issue. They need to deal with this somehow.

    Welco.e to the club. Another 10.3 killed the z30 story. Search Google and here at cb. More and more reports every hour. Mine stays black unless it's plugged in. The phones battery went dead a day after 10.3 update and now this. It is not a hardware issue. Don't bother as it won't help. I've been doing tech support for almost 20 years, this is a hardware firmware issue for sure

    Just had the same issue this morning after battery was depleted. The battery had been depleted before on 10.3.1 so I'm not sure why it happened this time, but i can't get the screen to come on the device.

    Took my phone in (Z30)....sent to BB under warranty and after 10 days got it back. They replaced the screen, the battery, the back shell and the software is back to 10.2.1.3062...when I check for updates says I have the current version....now I'll wait for 10.3 when it's proven.

    Even in 10.2.1 don't let the battery drained completely, there are posts that the issue happened in this OS version too.
