So you might be familiar with updating non-destructively with Sachesi (if not, read this). However, you may find yourself waiting for the now-ubiquitous Blitz package every time a new OS appears on the public servers. The purpose of this guide is to illustrate what Blitz packages are and how you can make them on your own.

    SO WHAT ARE THEY?
Simply put, a Blitz package is a .zip archive, inside of which are:

    • All app bars
    • All core OS bars
    • All radio bars

Now, if you know how non-destructive updating with Sachesi works, you may recognize this as just a generic form of a non-destructive update. That's because it is, all wrapped up in a little zipped package. (What did you think they were, magic?)

Sachesi is smart enough to recognize which device you've plugged into it and load the right OS and radio accordingly, because sometimes people aren't.

AND HOW DO I MAKE ONE?
Even simpler. Assuming you have the latest Sachesi (which you should), when you look for an update you should get something like this:

    [Guide] Blitz Packages And You-blitzguide1.png

    1. If you only want to download for yourself, set the Download For dropdown to your device (automatic if it's plugged in), start downloading the ~200 or so upgrade files, wait for it to finish and load non-destructively as normal.

If you are a good person and want to upload a Blitz package, read on.

    2. While that's going on, you can start with the other files. Since this is a Classic/Z30 release we're looking at, the ~200 files that Sachesi is downloading include the Classic/Z30 core OS and radio. To get other devices, use the Download For dropdown at the bottom.

    [Guide] Blitz Packages And You-blitzguide2.png

Set it to a device that isn't what you're downloading now. If the main download is completed, you can just set the device and everything other than the OS/radio should grey out. Hit Download, and Sachesi will download the file(s) (since it's also smart enough to know when it's downloaded something already).

    [Guide] Blitz Packages And You-blitzguide4.png

If you can't wait, click Grab Links. You should see a text file pop up like this:

    [Guide] Blitz Packages And You-blitzguide3.png

The top two URLs are the core OS and radio for the device that you selected. Download them and save them somewhere you know (such as the folder where Sachesi is downloading your OS).

    3. You should end up with these OS files (depending on OS version):

    DEVICE OS RADIO
    Z10 STL100-1 winchester.factory_sfi m5730
    Z10 STL100-2/3/4/P9982 qc8960.factory_sfi qc8960
    Q10/Q5/P9983 qc8960.factory_sfi qc8960.wtr
    Z3 qc8960.factory_sfi or
    qc8960.factory_sfi_hybrid_qc8x30
    qc8930.wtr5
    Z30/Classic qc8960.factory_sfi qc8960.wtr5
    Passport qc8974.factory_sfi or
    qc8960.factory_sfi_hybrid_qc8974
    qc8974.wtr2
Now keep in mind, Sachesi has already downloaded two of them, so you only have to download the others. You should end up with 3 core OS files and 6 radio files in an all-device package.

A completed download should look something like this:

    [Guide] Blitz Packages And You-blitzguide5.png

    4. Zip it up, upload it to Mega/Bitcasa/Google Drive/a torrent tracker/anything but Filefactory, and you're done!

Great guide Thurask! I'm bookmarking it now to save the link, for future posters. We can only hope that they read it, like all other stickies here in the forums.

    Awesome Thurask,
I already create my own Blitz files, but this will be very helpful to people who are not sure what a Blitz is and how it works.

I also (usually) use the Sachesi method to create my Blitz files it's very fast and simple.

I have a Blitz uploading right now with the OS and apps from 2072 and the Radio from 938 (939 Radio).

Open Sachesi and go to the search tab.

An update should appear on the right showing 2072.

Once it does, on the bottom it will say Download For Device, change that from as searched to Z10 (STL 100-1).

Click Download in the bottom right.

Once the download completes look for the folder that Sachesi just created, it should be named "10.3.1.1450"

    Go to the install tab.

Drag and drop the folder into Sachesi.

Your Z10 will update to 2072!

    GOOD LUCK
