Hi,

I have a Classic but the signal is no great compared to other phones.

Does anybody have experience of the signal compared to the Passport ???

My passport gets better signal in low signal areas than my classic for sure

I find that the Classic has much better reception than my Z10. The Z10 will switch between 4G and LTE in weak signal areas. The Classic, however, maintains LTE in theses problematic areas.

Z30, Passport and Classic, all three of them have a paratek antenna
Z30 and Classic comes with different models and network bands
Passport comes out only with one model
In my opinion the Classic has a better antenna coverage
Second comes passport and thirdly the Z30

I live in a remote area ATT's signal barely makes it here, 2-3 bars if I'm lucky with the 9900. Either no signal or 2 bars with the Classic. But the Classic isn't any worst than my wife's Samsung. No other carrier reaches my area. If I drive 2 blocks no reception for 7-9 miles. 14 miles to get 4 bars.

My Classic isn't worse than my Passport, reception is virtually the same in all areas where I frequently am - which includes some pretty difficult ones regarding reception.

Do you have official documentation for this? A press release, component breakdown, hell even a BB employee being quoted.

I know the Z30 does, but I have not seen a single official note about Paratek being in either the Passport or the Classic.

BBOS devices were set up to work through BIS; push email and BBM absolutely require BIS. You can read more about it here: Dear Berry: How can I use a BlackBerry without BIS? | CrackBerry.com.

That being said, if you have a BIS plan on your line, you should be able to BBM on WiFi just fine. In other words, the active connection need not be BIS (mobile data.) It just needs to be the data plan on your line.
