This has to be the worst idea I've ever seen. No undo, no way to cancel it. You want to hit enter to enter the dialog box but you hit del accidentally and enter right after and boom. Conversation lost.
Anyone else find this super annoying? Not to mention useless as a feature.
Only been happening on my passport. Not sure if other phones are this easy to accidentally erase

It would be useful if you told us what you're talking about. Are you talking about emails? BBM? SMS?

It happens in any messaging app within the hub lol. Except maybe emails

Well... don't you have a prompt then ?

This isn't an issue on virtual keyboards, at least not on my Z30 & Z10.

    I absolutely love this feature!

I switch off the prompt deliberately, although BBM is not affected...

On the passport, backspace and enter are extremely close. If you hit the keys wrong it opens the prompt and you hit enter and enter means "yes" so it deletes. For things like delete, enter shouldn't default to yes...

Who needs that kind of delete shortcut when you can se easily delete with a single click in the hub anyway

I sometimes get this when I am too eager to delete text. For stuff like Pictures in groups it is kind of annoying, but at least it doesn't delete them for the entire Group.

Can't you just reopen a Chat with a contact and see the History again?

Doesn't work in texts and. I hate that it doesn't. I hate havering to hit the 3 dots to end a conversation vs just hitting del.

Why would you be so eager to delete a text

It's prompts you to confirm whether or not you want to delete the chat or email first...there shouldn't be a case where it just deletes.

As I've explained before, on a passport the keys are very close and for some reason enter automatically means yes.
No bug here, just a useless and annoying feature I'd like to see toggled off

It's a classic feature. Been around as long as I've been on BlackBerry. I wouldn't wanna see it go. It's better than having to long press the convo or opening the menu. Quit mashing keys and it wouldn't be an issue. There's also a prompt to undo the deletion so there's plenty of time to counter it. It's no BlackBerry's fault you have no patience.

Some of you do not know what you are talking about. This has nothing to do with the Delete prompt for emails. Nor Txt messages, they also show a prompt first.

Go and open a BBM chat, disable focus from the text entry box (push anywhere outside it) and press "backspace".
This immediately removes/ends the Chat. Same thing happens to stuff in Groups as well, Pictures, Lists and such.

To avoid losing your History, make sure Save Chat history is enabled in the settings! Then when you open a new Chat with that person it should show the History again.
Any new message will also make the Chat show in the Hub again.

Lol.. oddly I never encountered this issue on my torch or curve.
The problem is that I'm not mashing buttons on purpose
The problem is that it's not a very useful feature.
How often do you use it?
And as I mentioned in the first post, there is no undo prompt

I am not aware of an undo prompt as well... and yes, an undo button would take care of the complaints w/ this feature!

But yes, I use this feature far too often!

I use it often too... except I don't do it on purpose! Haha
But I definitely don't see the point of it. The hub 'garbage can' is a much easier way and faster way of deleting a conversation
