Have you tried a hard boot? Hold the top button, till you see the white BlackBerry on the screen.

Alternative solution... cut back on the BBM sexting

Why is it that so many people have been complaining about this exact same problem across a variety of devices (z10, passport, z30 etc) for the several months and the only solution offered is a hard reset. That only works temporarily. Why is there no fix to this???What does one need to do --aside from tossing the phone in the garbage -- to get permanent relief from this? Imagine having your phone fully charged in your handbag, have wifi and data *switched off*, only to reach for the phone 2 hours later during an emergency and find the battery has dropped to 20 percent because apparently some unseen entity was all the while using the bbm app.

I've had this issue on and off since my 1st Z10. Only today lifted my Z30 which has only hardly been used as it's holiday time, and found BBM has used 66% of the battery. My son who is in vacation in Calgary says he can't use BBM to send messages as it just drains his iPhone.

Only cure is to keep the BBM fully updated even if u r not using it and restart/reboot your device once in 24 hrs. I am doing it and now my BBM is not eating my battery, neither any heating issue.
