I was just reading this and wondered how BlackBerry and Morvirtu will respond to this.

It would be just like Apple to make us all go back in time. I for one would rather keep it the way it is. Why would I want to go back to a system of internal programming when I can currently easily switch my aim card from one device to another freely and effortlessly. This just seems like a way to lock people in and make their lives more difficult. I hope this system never sees the light of day because I think it's a definite step backwards.

Not only that but it's not difficult to unlock phones and or change service providers, having these softsims isn't going to change the required process so it is of no benefit to anyone but the hardware manufacturer, aka Apple and they can go pound sand as far as I'm concerned.
