I was thinking about the new Passport and its touch-enabled keyboard, and it dawned on me that the virtual kb on the Z3, Z10, Z30 (which essentially isn't all that different) could also be given track pad functionality. Difficulties with fine corrections in awkward corners would be a thing of the past by simply double tapping on the virtual keyboard to bring up the cursor and then sliding one's thumb or finger across the keys.

What do you guys think? Would this be an option you would use if you could toggle it on? I assume adding it to the OS wouldn't be too difficult either given that the Passport already has it.

Have you tried holding the shift key and then sliding your finger in the text input field?

EDIT: Oh, you mean placing the cursor.
I find tapping the circle to be just fine.

Yes. Just like the functionality of the Passport but with the virtual keyboard instead

I'm thinking something more inline with this:

Given the keys on a virtual keyboard are already touch enabled I feel this would be a lot easier to program in. In fact we've already seen it in an application called "Trackpad Editor".
