I've had my Q5 for about a month now, and while it has its issues (mainly due to the slow processor and lag), the keyboard feels as good as day one.

I'm maybe a bit more accurate with my Q10, but I really prefer the Q5's mechanics. Just way more solid. Way more satisfying.

For some reason, island keyboards always have fewer issues for me. And somehow, better tactile feel. Why do people prefer Q10 style boards?--they seem more prone to mechanical issues (I would know, I went through quite a few of them). And the Q10 keyboard definitely degrades in feel over time, whereas the Q5's is super solid and clicky.

Is the Q5's keyboard simpler, and thus less prone to error/issues?

Haven't used the Q10 keyboard myself, but am loving the Q5 keyboard for sure. Seems like it's more versatile than the Q10, at least according to user reviews and posts throughout the forums.

You find the Q5 laggy? Could be because I upgraded from an older Android phone, but I find it to be buttery smooth. Don't use a lot of apps, though, and I know my experience may be relative. Still, the Q5 is a wrongly overlooked phone.

You know what...I'm running 10.3. That must be it for the lag.

Ah I see. Heard it worked well on the Q5, but I'm on 10.2.1, so not sure. Hopefully 10.3.1 official will run nicely.

I'm reverting to 10.2.1 today. I prefer it on the smaller screen.

I've tried the Q10 keyboard, and to be honest I didn't like the feel. A bit to 'mushy' and I couldn't type accurately coming from a Curve 9360. After much debilitating, I got the Q5 and I've loved it ever since. From my own observations it seems a lot of people look down on the Q5 due to its less premium looks and feel. I wish more knew about its capabilities. The only downside I would say is the 'clickity-clack' noise it makes when you type. I can never type near my mother or else she gets really irritated lol

I've had the Q5 and the Q10, I prefer the Q10 because as said by one of you, it feels more premium than the Q5, and I love the keyboard, and it is smaller than the Q5. Also, the extra space at the bottom of the Q5 keyboard... I don't get it, it's ugly..

The Q10 has a chin, too.

The Q5 does feel like a cheap phone compared to the Q10, but I prefer the solidity it anyway.

The only real issue in the design of the Q5 is the tapered edge. The Q10 has a awesome shape around the edge that makes it easier to hold.

    laggy Q5?
I used an LG G2 before switching to a Q5. the G2 has more powerfull procie, and the same 2GB RAM like the Q5. but the G2 was sometimes laggy. and I found out that android is not really good in dealing with using RAM. I could usually get 300-400MB free RAM on a daily basis with my LG G2.
while using the Q5 I've never felt laggy even if I use some and the same android apks installed on my Q5.
I can get 800MB free RAM. the least free RAM I've ever got on my Q5 was 500MB...

it is not laggy despite only having a dual core processor

    keypad
i've tried a friend's Q10 and the keyboard was really enjoyable. but I think it's true that you'll get typos, mostly double pressed because the keyboard is so soft. the Q5 however has this clickity-clack feeling and sound. I have fewer typos than my friend on his Q10. but I do envy his 16gb internal memory.

I had the q5 for a few days don't get me wrong it was a great phone but the keyboard really made it feel cheap and when click on the keys it just did not feel solid like the q10 the fell and the press of the q10 was perfect. The pressure to press the button was exact all the time. Where the q5 I felt it was not all the same.

Opposite for me. Every Q10 I've had has a non-uniform keyweight. The Q5 is uniform for me.

That said, a lot of good PC keyboards have different weights for different kinds of keys on the keyboard.

The Q10 keyboard keys are independent of one another like the Q5. They're just designed differently. I find typing on the Q10 a lot easier. I don't have to lift my finger as I type. I glide my fingers from letter to letter. Very smooth typing experience. Try extreme typist. Here's my Characters per minute and words per minute :

281 was pretty hard to get. Only got it once.
Guarantee it can't be done on the Q5. Then again could be wrong.

For me: I love the Q5 keys much more than the Q10. I used both phones for about a month before I made a decision on what to buy. I guess I went with the q5 because I had a 8520 originally. So they feel the same. If I used a 9900 then I probably would have gotten the q10 because they similar

Q5: Hard plastic, Wider Keys, clicky keys,

Q10: Premium Matreials, more squashed keys, squishy keys.

I have had my Q10 for 1yr. Had successfully replaced the keyboard after 3 months. Using a Q5 now for 2weeks and like the keyboard better due to the spacing of the keys. The Q5's keyboard is stiffer, loud and snappy.
