This needs to be discussed why did they remove the sleek semi-transparent black background for the active frames and switch to windows 95 style chrome. Side by side, the black looks so much better:

You are running a leak. Wait for the official 10.3.1 release for your device before complaining

Has nothing to do with it.

It's a 10.3 thing. My Passport which is leak free has exactly what the OP is mentioning.

I for one don't mind it and didn't even notice until the OP had pointed it out and i've been using BB10 since launch in Canada, heck this is my third device lol.

Maybe it's for keeping up with the icons. Since the ugly black boxes behind icons is removed, maybe they think they should remove the semi-transparent style of active frames. So the style is consistent.. it's my opinion though.

I guess the theme in 10.3 and beyond does away with gradients and alpha/transparency blending. Maybe they should allow a change in color? But then some people might choose blue and it would REALLY look like Win 95.

I agree with the OP. The new frame is very old looking. Why not have a drop shadows and grayed out title bars while we are at it.

First off, I am not running a leak. I am running the developer OS pushed out with the SDK.

    Secondly:
I hate when people say this.....other than red accents I cannot think of one feature that was in a leak and did not appear in the final os

    The squircle.

Yeah but you're right, "you're running a leaked" is always an escape goat when these things happen.

Yes, it's a leak. Leak means no official public release, as in Beta software. If you read the EULA, you will know that bugs are implicit and that's not a final version. That said, we are pretty near the release version, but you don't know yet how the visual theme can be customized. So, it's only speculation and burst of emotions, and can only be resolved when the official version will be out.

Personally, "I hate when people" advise a new user to install a leak. Because, be sure, "we" (as the majority of user) cannot help him well when he'll need it.

Yeah but you're right, "you're running a leaked" is always an escape goat when these things happen.
Not an escape goat, rather a way to say "you're on your own, because you installed a non-final beta software, and start complaining about it".

Guess they changed it so it matches that new flat design language better.

Hopefully not double-typed with my Q10
