I need a little help guys - I bought a used 9780 and I'm pretty sure it used to be a BES device because after I wiped it, during set-up it asked for BES activation - which I obviously just skipped.

I've been able to set up my emails no problem, can browse, and SMS - but I can't input my BBID (thus use my old BBM contacts) because when I go the 3rd party applications in the tools menu, it's completely blank.

Also, when I tried to update the OS it says I can't connect with the server.

Any help guys - I think I need to somehow bypass or inactivate the BES requirement...

You can read this thread to find out how to check if the phone has an IT policy. You can use DM and your computer to remove the policy with the instructions in the first post.

Did you try the Desktop Manager method to remove the IT policy?

The first setup always asks for an enterprise activation. I'm sure that your Blackberry was deleted
at owners BES. That is what the BES is - a security and remote solution.

BBM isnt a 3rd pary app, its a native a app. So install Appworld or update the Berry with a OS via PC.

Hey thanks I managed to remove the IT policy via the method you mentioned - was able to update the OS but I'm thinking it was a mistake loll.

The phone is sort of gimped now, I can't add any additional email accounts as it just shows the dreaded little clock and then times out.

Is there a way to find the best OS version available - it's impossible to find via CB anymore as the sticky is like 3 years old lol. I tried google and the last official OS seems to be from Vodaphone spain but couldn't find any info on it other than it's the last one.

Glad to help you get rid of the IT policy.

I have the latest update on my 9780 which is v6.0.0.749. You can download the last link (bundle 3159), then you will need to read the instructions about removing the vendor file.
