On the passport 2, add a light on the back that blinks only for urgent messages. For example, set it up so texts from certain people light up the light.

Much like the existing light but it only works for urgent calls, messages, etc.

Point being that the passport goes into quiet mode when face down so the LED is not visible.

Why not 3 LEDs at top Red, Yellow and Green.

Red - no messages
Yellow - maybe a message coming through
Green - message received

Than they could line the outside with Christmas lights and we could customize the colors and when they flash.

I think it should be:
Red - New message
Blue - Bluetooth connection
Light blue - Wifi Connection
Green - Location services active
Light green - Network coverage
Yellow - NFC active
Orange - Mobile hotspot on
Cyan - Alarm active for the next 24 hours
Purple - Calendar entry for the next 24 hours

And a big white one that just blinks to let you know the device is still on.

Plus, it'd make for a cool flashlight.

I also think they should make some new premium headphones and strap an LED or 5 to the volume controls, so you don't even have to look at the phone.

A good app idea: make the camera LED go off when urgent message is received, similar to the iPhone's accessibility feature which flashes the camera LED for every new message.

It has a app like this for calls and BBM voice maybe someone can contact the developer and add sms and bbm chats etc

An opaque trim around the sides that illustrates with the led. So it can still be seen if face down. Also why don't they make glow in the dark cases or cases impregnated with fiber optic to make a star burst effect with notifications

Isn't the idea of silent mode that you stop getting bothered by notifications?

The blue light when bluetooth is connected would be nice.. always liked that feature on my BlackBerry Legacy devices
