I have just done a quick channel check with the largest distributors in Germany and it is on out of stock until the 27th of October.

I am surprised how high the channel price is as it is very close to the US retail price WITHOUT the discount.....

It really seems to be a hit. All the etailer and shops that have it in stock, have it from the first supply run...

This is the issue at the moment..... everyone is waiting for the distribution to bring them back in.

All they have at the moment is
Q5 pink and white
Z30 white
Q10 white

Everything else is getting ordered and arriving soon....

Seems like the Passport has finally started to create interest for all the phones once again....

Yepp, but we have no idea how big the initial stock was. It could be 5-10 phones up to a few hundreds maybe. Anyhow, it would be nice to see this eye-catching device out in the shops, carrier shelfes..But no love for the dark side here

Yesterday I ordered Amazons last unit in stock, it just got shipped. Seems like availability is worse than originally thought. Don't know if I keep it or not, still pretty torn regarding that keyboard.

Any idea where European models are being manufactured? Mexico or Romania? If it is Mexico I get that time line because it will probably take 2 weeks to get from Mexico to Europe on a boat. But if it coming from eastern Europe should be faster than that.

Wow. BlackBerry really under estimated demand for this product.

I guess after the times they got burned with writing down devices that they are conservative this time.

Regarding manufacturing: They are built in Mexico.

MediaMarkt is out of stock as well....

Seems like it is a wait until the end of the month.... at least the iPhone is hard to get as well at the moment

I don't know if they really under estimated. They built it as a professional device, and the consumers community BlackBerry following so...

I'm still waiting in a azerty keyboard.... hope this month in France...

Quick update:

The 27th is when the distribution has available stock.

Next week several shipments are arriving, fulfilling backorders.... so yeah.... by the end of the month it should be widely available again

Amazon got new stock and is shipping within 24 hours. Seems like they got some sort of semi exclusive deal with BB, since they're the only shop who frequently restocks within a couple of days.

Just checked again.

The channel is not keeping up with the back orders and the next available shipment is arriving in November.

The price went up by almost 20% for single quantities to enhance availability for the bigger orders and to profit from the high demand.

Amazon has exclusive deals with distributors and is constantly ordering in bulk.

So yeah:

BlackBerry can't keep up with demand to such an extent that it is more expensive to buy a phone from the distribution than from a reseller.

This almost Never happens.

Expansys from the headline has sold out.... with a 200$ markup...

Supply really sucks. No retailer has them in store, be it Saturn, Media Markt and Saturn. Reading those november news makes me sure I did the right thing when I ordered the Passport a week ago and got Amazon's last one. However I'd like sending it back for replacement but waiting more than two weeks before they'll get new stock is pretty disappointing.

I ordered from Alternate earlier this week after sending back my Passport. They said they should've gotten stock yesterday, yet that didn't happen. Now they expect the shipment to arrive early next week.
