I'm still amazed at how Apple seems to get a free pass from the media. Image BB releasing an upgrade with this many bugs and issues for users, Blackberry would be raked over the coals and hounded into oblivion. Still don't understand it, any ideas as to why?

That's what happens when you keep polishing an old OS; too much make ups on the face and the Apple skin will eventually rot.

    Under the cover of night
    She crawls into sight
Her skin is cold china white
She's a dark angel wearing dark glasses
Dark shadows under long false lashes
    The night exposes the cracks
She wears her makeup like wax
    To hide every scratch
'Cause she a dark angel riding dark horses
Sitting pretty in her dim lit covers... I say
Black cars look better in the shade
She smears her lipstick on right before she sleeps
For all those phantom lovers in her dreams
    She smokes them french cigarettes
In cocktail gloves and a strapless dress
    She cuts a perfect silhouette
But she's a dark angel wearing dark glasses
A fading beauty as the night time passes... I say
Black cars look better in the shade

I would say it has to do with so many people being invested in apple stock either individuals or through their 401ks index funds etc etc. If applicable were to ever fail. At its current size it would wipe out many people's finances. Keeping apple cool is essential to many. Even though many have begun to grow tired of apple........
This is all opinion I might be some huge nut but this is what I feel is happening.

It might be unfair (and unfairness might be perceived differently), but that is the nature of business. When one is picking up the rear, one has less leeway to make mistakes.

So at what point does BlackBerry phones stop being those "stupid phones from six years ago that would freeze and take 20 minutes after a battery pull to restart" and Apple start being the company with "bending phones, bad antenna, lax, nightmarish device security" company?

Yeah, they should be used to it just like iTunes will wipe everything even though it asks you if you want to keep your data when connecting the iDevice to a "new" computer.

I don't even think Apple is as untouchable as folks might think. It's PR machine is scary, yes, but even Apple can't continue to make mistakes and shrug them off like it used to.

As BBRY continues to make better business decisions, it'll get kinder press. It'll take time, but BBRY dug the hole, and in this business, it takes a while to get out of it.

I don't know, Tre. I just find it sadly amusing that transgressions such as sending a plain clothes police escort with Apple employees to people's residences to conduct warrantless searches (remember that?) or a non-apology at having private information plastered all over the internet for all to see, etc. don't trump a now technologically repaired ill-reputation.
