Why is it so slow and laggy. If I shake my head on camera, it takes a few seconds (ish) to catch up to my movements. Feels a step back when it should be a step forward.

Did you just set it up? the device is still syncing perhaps? Is the lag only happening in the camera or other apps on the device?

I haven't heard of anyone else complaining of same.. if none of the above is true perhaps you have a faulty unit.

I'm on the 10.3.0.1131 leaked os and face a problem that looks a bit like this.
BUT it only happens with my rear camera when i turn of flash!
ONLY when flash is turned of, it lags a lot.
I know i'm on a leak and i'm not complaining.
Could be a small bug in the os that hasn't been worked out.

    EDIT : I'm on a Q10

I noticed the camera is an issue out of the box, will read the manual for setting improvements

Yeah, while the rear camera is quite good. The front camera feels like a logitech webcam circa 1998... ok, ok... maybe not 1998, but definitely early 2000ish.

What I don't get is why the direct reproduction (when it's displaying what it's capturing on the screen) is so slow... like 15fps or something. Good thing the screen isn't a crt or you might actually be able to follow the scanning trace! LOL

I noticed in low light, the front camera lags pretty bad. Rogers update might have improved, but it's still pretty embarrassing...

    Using passport with 10.3.0.675

I agree with posts here, the front facing camera is really poor. It lags and I find the images to be really dark too.

Hoping this can be sorted out with software updates.

Update your OS guys, with each update bugs will be sorted. 10.3.0.1418 should be what you're running now.

I did update, and the Z30s front facing camera is still much better than the Passport's.

Hopefully they get this sorted out through software and it isn't some sort of hardware limitation.

Bbm video chats is fine during the day. I would say it's very clear. Night time obviously can't see much unless you are under a light but the audio is not affected (not that I would expected it to)

Have the same issue, although primarily dependent on lighting conditions, if theres a lot of light, its okay, if theres less than ideal lighting, it lags, really bad, my Q10 never lagged

Finally got my passport and I can officially say this is by far one of the worst front facing cameras I've ever used. I'm scared it's hardware limited rather than software. Compare the front cam visually to that of a Q10 and you will know what I'm talking about.

I'll be quite shocked if software fixes it.

I'm willing to bet it's a software issue. Most things now days are soft ware related. I am sure if it were hard ware related, it would not have been released that way, when you think about it. It's a pretty quality built device. Wait for some updates. If this is to be used for video conferencing and the like and used by professionals, they are not going to let that end of it slide

is blackberry product manager didnt even try to do some selfies in a room or something.. compare to Q5/Q10 is like heaven and earth ... its front camera is just like some cheap cellphone that cost may be 50 USD (made in china cellphone)
